ok, so, ive been bored to death lately, so i decided to refresh my memory on cycling. it says that ammonia goes up, which i have. then, after ammonia, a bacteria will start to colonize in the tank, which consumes ammonia, and produces nitrites. and after nitrites, another bacteria conlonizes, consuming nitrites, and producing nitrates. and once you have nitrates, and nitrites and ammonia are zero, then you are done, and can do a water change to get your nitrates down. sooo, i have only been testing nitrite recently, since if i dont have nitrite, i wont have nitrates, and i already know i have ammonia in the system.
to my understanding, this all is correct, but please if im wrong, tell me.
so to me, all of this only means one thing. ive got a lot of waiting to do. theres a frag swap that is around here, and its only once a year. its in chattanoga, and people from TN, AL, GA and other nearby states come and get tables, and have frags for sale/trade. its this upcomming saturday, the 15th, and i wont be able to make it, since, my cycle wont be done, and it would be a waste of time to go.....
and an update: the raw shrimp that i had put in the tank originally, is all gone... i hadnt taken it out, and i did pick it up and shake it a bit so some pieces would float around everywhere, and now its all gone. lol.
