Ok, so I'm gonna ask you to touch it again!
Does it come off easily? May be a different color coralline algae!

ok, so this green slime algae.. what can I do to keep it in check?
I don't feed very often, I only have a lionfish and a engineer goby. lion gets fed every 3 days 3 silversides adn the goby gets a few pellets every other day.
All i have is a protien skimmer, but it runs 24/7
I will be hooking up a sump refugium very soon (will this help?)
I ready that chevron, mimic and yellow tangs may eat cyano (which appaerntly is what green slime is a form of. I was allready going to get a good sized yellow tang.
more clean up crew. I have about 18 crabs and 4 snails
my lighting schedule has been a bit out of wack latley. left them on alot longer than normal the past few days while I was out getting christmas stuff.
I have 2 additional t5 lights coming soon. I jsut got a new fixture and its a 6 bulb t5 but 2 of the bulbs were broken in shipping.
Anything else I can do?
Thanks

Looks like coralline to me. Can you take something and blow on it or wave something over it to see if it disperses or not?

What are your parameters? Yes, a sump/refugium should definitely help!
I've never had green slime, can you manually remove it with a turkey baster?? Also, more snails would be good.
What size is your tank? What is your water change schedule?
I also reccommend you get a timer for your lights. excess lighting will often promote algae issues.

Thanks, Henry! That was my opinion, also.
Jstdv8, have you tried touching it, or blown on it, to test?

yeah, its really on there, I can't even budge it a little bit. cant seem to even scrape it off the rock with my fingernail. but it is an odd shaped rock. Its started to spread onto my glass on the bottom corners of the tank now. I don't have a scraper, just a magnet cleaner and a cleaner on a stick that has a soft surface that doesnt even make a dent.
my perameters are:
amm 0
trites 0
trates 20
PH 8.3
water temp: 78
phospahtes .3 (Ive been using phospahte removers for a month now. this is the lowest level its been)
25 % water changes every other week
The only thing I can pinpoint that has changed much recently is about 2-3 days before this stuff became noticeable I added a large rock and a small rock to the tank out of my 55g holding tank that I'm treating about 100 lbs of LR for aiptasia in.
these two rocks I was fairly certain I had eradicated and added them to the dispaly tank. I didnt want to add a whole bunch as I didnt want to change my perameters in any way so I was adding about 10lbs per week.
Im going to build the stand for sump/refugium tonight. and try adn get that set up.
unfourtunatley my sump/refugium is also my tank I was treating the aiptasia in. So i've got to get the remaining LR out and into a new container with good water and some movement and then clean the living daylights out of it and get it set up under my display tank.

Then it is corraline. It comes in many colors.
You'll need to buy a razor scraper for your glass.

if this stuff is coraline im gonna have one crazy looking tank. Ive never seen anything this flourecent on a rock before. I kinda hope it is, cuz I dont want to mess with algae much.
