Titan Nice tank! Are you still going to go with the 500GL?
yes i am, i actually already have the the front piece of 1 inch thick glass in my garage right now since it had to be delivered and they also had to take it off with some sort of crane looking arm. im in no hurry to build though, i think ensd of the summer it will be done though, and then ill usse my 300 as a sump/fuge.
blennius You can bet that I'll be going back through your posts picking Squidd's brain and all! I may be asking you some stuff too, LOL.
hey thanks for all the compliments once again
no problem, honestly it was done the RIGHT way and done the right way the first time!! it was alot of thinkign and planning, but like is aid i couldnt have done it without turningtim or squidd chiming in.
V-Lioness And I thought I had a large Bio Load ..... Looks Great, what are the dimensions? Acrylic or Glass? If it is acrylic, How are you avoiding the scratches from your sand bed?
my bioload is big, but suprisingly witht he size of my fuge, protein skimmer espeically and cleanp crew me levels are all at 0 once again. i only had one big trate rise and two 70 gallon water changes made it go away. i was overfeeding bigtime so i cutback and now levels are perfect again!
Acrylic and the dimensions are 96x27x25.5 kind of odd dimensions
if you notice int he picture my tank sits down into the stand exactly 3.5 inches and i have a 4 inch sandbed, so the sand lays pretty much evan with the front of my tank so it looks as if its all level and there is virtually no thick sandbed in there, evan though there is. Basically i never had to deal with any scratches because there not visible, i have a very fine sand in there as well for my rays and my shark
as for the stars their AMAZING and i almost bought 2 more crazy looking stars this weekend but the problem is that i have what i like to call "the coral bug" and im starting to buy more and more corals so with three large stars as mine, my tank is big enough that they never really "find" my corals plus i keep them well fed, but if they do find them(and its happend) they will wipe out a whole rock of shrooms in an hour! so they have their advantages and disadvantages!

its about 170 pounds live rock and 100 pounds base rock, its a very new tanks o in time it will all "look" live, most of my base rock actually has a ton of coraline growing on it so i would say another few months and it will all look the same..my base rock already has tons of feather dusters growing from it as well so im very happy.
ALSO i cannot put any mopre rock in my tank because of my stingrays and shark, they need a large open swimming area, so im limited to how much rock i can have and i wouldnt add anymore, as well as all my tangs are 7 inches at the smallest so i rather them have the swimmign room rather than a corwded tanwk with rock

OH Tim... always givin me trouble... and yes ill try not to stress out but you know its hard when putting a systen like this together! and honestly its not me, i do the easy part of maintaining my tank but you put it together for me so once again my hats off to you for sure!!

thanks again for all the compliments!

Definitely some sharp photos....very impressive livestock selection.
Do you have any filtration problems?
I'd think there would be some issues considering the livestock assortment you have.
I thought the photo of the foxface was the best of the bunch...great detail and nearly dead on color...very nice.

hey NM
i finally switched cameras and have been getting some pretty good macros that iw ill share maybe today or tomm. along with some decent shots of the fish. if i learned how to use photoshop those pics might be evan better!
as far as filtration, no problems, as is aid i had a trate spike about 2 weeks ago but i still hadnt bought a cleanup crew for my fuge at the time, so after getting about 40 crabs and 40 snails etc. i did two big water changes and all my levels have been at zero since. i credit my protein skimmer the most , without that thing i dont know what would happen with this tank.
the best part of the tank is that everyone gets along very well i think because 1. they are all about the same size 2. i was very carefull in the order i added them from least aggressive to most aggressive and LASTLY they have TONS of swimming room so they are never "running" into each other

Since you make your own tanks, a friend of mine has a 360 which is an awsome dimension. It's 8' long, 3' wide, and 2' high, just an Idea.
