Been researching and setting up my tank since Christmas. Been taking my time and slowly piecing her together. My plan has been to put in a Radiata or Volitan Lion and then work around that... but I am also considering having a peaceful tank so I can have a better clean up crew (and I want shrimp!). Going to have to decide soon.
Heres what I have so far:
Octopus BH-2000 protein skimmer (seems to work great..though a LOT of output bubbles)
T5 light
(2) Korolia 3 powerheads (not sure on positioning)
Fluval FX-5 Canister filter (only running carbon bags right now)
(2) Eheim 150w heaters
Auto-topoff setup
Live rock mixed with largo rock
I believe the tank has finished cycling.. and is finally ready for some fish!! Now I just need to decide what I want to keep. Here are some pics.. (my aquascaping SUCKS ha.. just kinda threw that together real quick)

Thanks!
I just set up my QT tank, and am ready to finally start adding stuff!! My plan has always been to have a lionfish..and is the main reason I even got into this hobby, but after lots of thinking (and persuasion from the girl..) I am going to set up a peaceful tank I believe. Here is what I am thinking of starting with.
Clownfish pair
Flame Angel
Bi-color Angel
Mandarin
How does that sound?
Also, I want to get a good cleanup crew in the tank first. I have seen some "packages" online that you can order, are these ok? Or ANY advice on what to use for my cleanup crew would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

Nice tank.....I would start with some cerith snails and some nassarius snails.....see how they do first
It looks kinda clean from the pics...do you have any algae or diatoms at all yet?

There is no algae on the actual tank glass, but I believe there is some algae covering the live rock. Also, I believe there are copepods (white lice looking things on the glass). Not sure how to check for diatoms, though.

diatoms is the brown stuff that grows on your sand in the beginning....
You don't want to get angels until you have stuff for them to graze on, and a mandarin, you should wait at least 6 months, and think about a refugium to grow pods for one...they eat a lot of pods....

Ok, thanks for the advice. Maybe I will start out with a clean up crew and a pair of clownfish for now.

Thanks everyone! Nice to hear after all this work (well at least I feel likes it been a lot of work, ha). I am hoping to get my cleanup crew in my main tank this weekend, and get a clownfish pair in the QT tank :) !!!
As for the background, It would be a bit hard to paint right now, do you put like a "sticker" or something on the back?

Finally got my first fish!! Got a clownfish pair, a Banded Coral Shrimp pair, and 18 hermits!!
They all seem to be doing well, though the clownfish are being shy and staying in the upper corner. Hopefully they will venture around over time.
Also taped on a black background.. lots of bubbles but still looks better than before.
