New Acan on the block!!

I just bought my first Acan it's a small peice of frag with 8 polpys 6 bigger ones and 2 small ones. I'm getting the hang of feeding them with the lights off and having to basically hand feed them. But my question is with any polpys in order for them to expand does there need to be a peice of live rock directly next to them? Also I placed him a round peice of live rock is that good for expantion or a flat peice? Oh yeah and I noticed alot of people saying they have theirs on the sand is that a good place for them?

They look very nice.....I think you can keep them where ever you want...I have seen them on sand, and in rockwork....
I also think that as they grow, they will reach oout and spread out to the rocks by them

NO...seriously....I meant if they are on the rock like that, they will spread out onto it.....does that make more sense????

yea but i also seen acans on the sand get big without no rock around.

YES...you missed my point.....the question was would it spread to rock....I was trying to say...placed IN rock...it would spread to it....
see how she has it in the rock....it would have to go somewhere...right? so placed there, I figure it would spread OUT...meaning onto the surrounding rock
no

There's a small little gap between the frag and live rock so I always thought that they needed to touch in order for them to grow.
