I've come to the same conclusion. I put a new return pump on the system last night and unfortunately it sounds like a chain saw. So I think I'm going to take advice from Novice150 and use an external pump. Do you have a brand you recommend?

Not sure if the pump question was directed at me or not, but I personally like Iwaki and Little Giant pumps.
