I have a shipment coming from saltwaterfish.com today.
How do you put anemones and corals into the tank? Do you hand place them on a rock or do you let them float from the top?
Help Please!!!%%

i have always just floated the bag for 30 minutes then picked them out of the bag and put them on the rock i like.
some say to wear rubber gloves to handle the anenome but i never felt the sting.
just watch that the anenome is away from the corals.

FRESH WATER FISH is way I was asking. Just float them with the lights out so you dont overheat the water in the bag. All you are trying to do is bring them to the same temp. And yes place them by hand. If you want to tell what kind of coral you have someone will tell you were to put them. We will need to know lighting, powerheads, tank size and mates. You can ask almost anything and someone on here will have the answer.

How old is this tank?....what is the tank size? What type of lighting do you have?
What corals are you getting?

Like i said...i'm new. Completely obsessed already. We bought a Red Sea 130D...so its a 34 gallon tank. Lighting is 2 55w T5. Powerheads? I dont know what you mean by that. The tanks been up for about 4 weeks. Currently in the tank so far is 1 clown, 3 damsels, and a coral banded shrimp. We bought a few rocks from the LFS and ended up with a bristle worm problem...=/
The shipment today is going to deliver a pink carnation, trumpet coral frag, and a rock anemone.
We accidently ordered a Galaxea coral without looking up on it and i dont think we will be putting that in the tank.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and i look forward to learning from all of you experienced hobbyists.

I was told week from for the anemone and coral.
Anemones need to be in established tanks....6 months at a minimum...they also ned special lighting...Like Metal Halide....SOME T5 HO can work, but I am not surethat is what you have

Red sea max tanks are made for all corals including SPS. The lighting is fine for the anemone. If you bought the tank used though you may have to replace the bulbs. Hopefully you have cycled the tank. If not then the anemone will probably not make it. However if you have a CBS in the tank and it hasn't died you may be fine. How much live rock do you have? A good rule of thumb is about a pound of rocks per gallon of water. However.......rock anemones have a strong sting so that may be asking for some trouble there.
I would try to get the damsels out. They can really become a problem later. And they will limit the other fish you can keep. Also......they will probably kill each other in the process. They are just very aggressive for a small fish.
Bristleworms are a normal part of live rock. They are good scavengers and won't hurt anything unless you are one in a million and get a nasty. That is rare though.
Don't stress too much. These are really normal newbie mistakes. In all honestly I have seen people do worse....
