Tank parameters for today is are as follows:
SG: 1.023/1.024
PH:8.0
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: .50
Nitrate: 5
This was with my API saltwater master test kit
I also have the dip sticks as well and did a test with it and it came out with
PH 8.2
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: .50
Nitrate: 0
I hope all is going well with this, my nitrates should rise and then go to zero correct?

Last two days the readings have been the same
PH 7.8
Ammonia: 0
Nitrites .5
Nitrates:0
I added a shrimp today to makeit go a little faster, LFS saidleave it for 3-4 days is this correct? Then nitrites should go up and as they covert to nitrates the nitrites should come down.
Any thoughts?

Pretty boring, eh? LOL Thanks for reminding me -- time to go check the parameters in my new Biocube that's cycling. This patience part is the hardest thing but since I just got a shipment in from swf.com, that should keep me amused for a few days.

yes, this is the hardest part. It is killing my wife not being able to put something in but she said at least the tank is not bare it it's still pretty. We have been looking at corals and fish trying to come up with a stock list.
We don't have a protein skimmer but we are going to do at leat 5 gallon water changes every week so we should be fine, that would be 20 gallons per month on a 29 gallon tank I think that should keep the tank and the perameters pretty good.

That should work perfectly for you.

I lucked out on my LR because local fish store was going out of business and I picked up 60lbs for 100 bucks. If you lokk at your LFS go to a few and see what each have then make a decision on what you like. My tank is the lower three pics hope we are talking about the same rock.

I went on craigslist..lok for key words like going out of business, divorce, moving, can't take with me...then you can haggle from that point.

ok my nitrites are coming down, but my nitrates are still the same any advice on this. I have had a great big algae bloom the brown stuff. Am I ready for a water change and start my stock list?

My nitrites are 0 and so is my nitrates are 0 as well.Ammonia reads 0 too.
I guess since I am new to the boards I dont warrant help!!! It would be nice if I can start stocking it with a clean up crew...

Clean-up crew is a go, I would also go ahead with a 20% water change. Sorry for not seeing your thread earlier.

I set the tank up on Saturday, I did not test till yesterday and then again today. My ammonia has been reading zero both days and my nitrates are zero, but nitrites have been going up. I am not sure to know exactly when the tank has fully cycled, I know it will take awhile but I will continue to take readings everyday and see what happens, could it be my live rock wasn't cured all the way. I am not sure.
Sue,
You gave me the best advice not to tweak the rock work so you must do the same.,,LOL nobody else has posted on my parameters, I was hoping to have some feed back but ooh well.
Well guess what I did Sunday? I "tweaked" my rockwork in the BioCube and now I hate it.

well my tank has been up running for about 10 days and I watched my nitrites go up and come back down.
Before I do a clean up crew do I have to add anything since this is going to be a reef tank. I am new to this reef tank and my test kit does not do calcium. What is the average as for as snalis go, how many?
Also is it recommended that you do a water change before adding livestock?
Sue,
You didn't take your own advice, shame on you. It was hard for me but once the aquascape got up and the wife and I liked it we left it alone.
Any ideas for stocking we are going to do soft corals and only a couple of fish I hoping maybe someone had an idea out of the ordinary.. I am open to all suggestions.
