well my MH were on for like 4 hours when i got my Phoenix. i took off the fixture and layed it down. i slowly unscrew them and and remove the glass. then with a cloth i grab the HQI and removed them and added the new ones. i waited 15mins and turn them on and TADAA!!!!
amazing!

As much as I want them in now LOL I'm kinda thinking if I wait til Friday I can watch them come on :)
If I do it tomorrow night, by the time I get done (cause I'll do some glass cleaning) they will be going off

Nissan's going to kill me, but if I were you I'd wait for Friday also. You'll have plenty of time to do things right, and you'll get to appreciate them the whole day.
How long is your HQI photoperiod, anyway?

about 7-8 hours

Man I need to break down and buy a MH setup. Right now I'm running a Frankenstein conglomeration of T-5's and PCs....a 260 PC set and a 216 T5 over the same tank. The price was right for the time, but it's not my favorite.

BULBS ARE IN!!!
Now I wait for them to come on....

This is going to be a long 2 hours

p.s. I am also mixing 25G's of my new Reef Crystals salt for the 225G

this will be changed tomorrow (I hope) I know it will quite a few w/c's before it is all reef crystals..lol...BUT this is a first step :)

Oh...there is no doubt there will no longer be a yellow look.
I have phoenix, and they are very blue 14k. I like the look.
So I would say it will be a touch more than a "hint of blue", but I think you will love them. Especially if you do not want the yellow look.
