New Camera

I'm looking to get a new camera so I can capture more detail than my current camera does. I'm looking at the Kodak Easyshare Z740. It's a 5 Megapixel with a 35mm equivalent lens.
Does anyone have this camera?? If so does it give you really detailed pics?? or is there another camera around the 300-350 range that would be better??
Thanks,

I just got a cannon power shot SI IS. It was around 300.00 range and it takes awsome pictures. Lots of different options fast shutter speed. Cannon also has an upgraded model that lets you take pictures while you are filming a movie.

Id rather go to the snow than it come to me. Also it was to small of a town for me. I live about 60 miles from LA. My town is pretty small at 150,000 people compared to LA

just my input i've got the konica minolta dimage z10 it's rather cheap but it's a 3.2 MP and can take really good close ups and the digital zoom actually works well. I'm happy with it and you should be able to pic one up for less than or around 200 just my 2 cents worth. if not that one try the new kodak can't remeber the name but it doubles as a camcorder with sound. plus i think it's 5 MP and it's around 300 i think. may want to check it out before buying anything sounds like a good deal to me. check out kodak website. www.kodak.com

Hey Reefnut!
The Z740 is an upgraded version similar to my 7590. It's a great camera for the price IMO and it's made in the US. Actually, it's made just down the road from me so consider my opinion biased.

Guy, is yours a Z7590 or DX7590?? I ended up going with the DX7590 because it seemed to be a little nicer than the Z740. It may take a while to learn how to use it... have you found a setting that works under actinic lighting?? My 20k MHs are causing the pics to wash out. I tried each of the white balances but haven't found a good setting yet.

Mine is the DX7590.
For the Actinic I tend to adjust the color with Photoshop. Try adjusting the exposure as well as white balance. I havent run in to the 20,000K problem though since my lights are mostly 10,000K

I'll try that. I'm sure one of the thousand settings will work lol.
In comparing the Z740 to the DX7590, the DX7590 has a wider range of shutter speeds & Exposure Compensations. It also has adjustments for ISO, Focus System, Exposure Bracketing & Custom Modes. The only thing the Z740 has over the DX7590 is the digital zoom power.
