New Corals: Let Me Know What You Think

I noticed you have a hydnophora there. How long have you had it? Do they grow fast? Mine seems to be just there, healthy but not much growth, two months in my tank under 10K MH bulb.

Thank you guys, Maxalmon,I just got this weekend, so I guess we'll see. My LFS just got 2 in , I picked mine up the same day. They are now just starting to get some more colorful acros now, I hope to get some more really cool ones in the future here. Just so darn pricey sometimes, I guess you have to pay to play when it comes to color. Thanks again, and I'll let you know how it does in the next couple of weeks. All of my caps, except the brown under the green and orange/red, it is also growing up the side of the overflow, that is all new growth over the past year and a couple of months, no more than that. Anyway the green and the orange/red were grown from 1.5" frags. It is about 1.5 yrs. of growth for those. The green one has been broke a couple of times, that is why it is smaller than the other. That one grows like crazy also.

Topfins-MJ, Yes, it grows pretty well actually. I hope we're talking about the same pieces(used to be one) on the bottom near the Pectinia and the Star polyps on the bottom. That I got from the internet, about a year and 2 mo. ago, I'm going to say(not 100% sure), no more than 1.5yr.. Those are my wife's favorites in the tank, very frilly and really sways in the current. It is Hydnophora Excessa, it is a longer polyp variation. If you were looking at something different let me know.

Matt at was looking at the piece sitting right above the purple tang on your first picture. The green one with lost of branches. I can see clearer on the next couple of pictures. Mine looks the same, except not as full.

That is actually a form of Porites, you really have to look at the polyp closely to see it. I will post some better pics for you if I can. The only Hydnophora I have right now is the stuff I described earlier. I do want to get some more of the different species.

Goingpoor(already there for me)Thank you very much, I try to always pick something that catches my eye as long as it is a healthy piece, price is usually an issue though with me. Thanks again
