just wanna say hello and have some questions
first off i am new to sharks, rays and eels, but ive been building/seting up my tank for months now and ive also done countless hours of reasearch..Also i have and keep crocadiles , so i know the work/time/and money exotics involves
now onto my questions...i am currently building 7 1/2 by 2 by 2 1/2 foot aquarium..Not sure on the gallons somewere around 250 maybe?? anyway the guy at my local pet store( not a chain store , privatly owned) has a 2,000 gallon saltwater setup with lots of sharks, rays, eels etc..he told me i would have to pick either shark/eel setup or shark/ray setup....is this accurate?? Also he raises nurse sharks and other large sharks for the nearby zoo and then takes them there when there bigger( its like a program he is in with conjunction with the zoo) so he said he is willing to give me a nurse shark and then after 2 or 3 years take it to the zoo with him,,he also said i could have a nurse shark along with a banded shark in the same tank along with either a ray or an eel...whats tooo crowded?? also i know that blue dot rays are bad in captivity and that they die quick...what ray would you reccomend??
Any advice and more info would be appreciated!!

I don't think you'll get many responses b/c of the rash of shark-related questions here lately asking about keeping sharks in small tanks.
Whereas your 250 is not a small tank, it is not the type of tank to house a nurse shark for long at all. And reputable zoo suppliers are not going to farm out raising a nurse shark in a tank under a couple thousand gallons.
As for rays, that's one item i've never kept, so i cant recommend a decent ray.
If your LFS farms his stuff to zoos, shouldn't he be able to answer all your questions about this stuff? Contact him again and see what he says.

thanks for the reply
yes in the first post i wrote thats everything my local guy told me ,, i am just double checking what he said to make sure he knows what he is talking about...such as what i can keep with the sharks /rays etc.. i dont like to jump into expensive projects like this without knowing everything there is to know about the situation. Also the exact dimesnions on my tank aregoing to be 24" by 36" by 72" 269 gallons

Banded yes, nurse shark not even close. I don't know about rays and eels. How can your LFS raise sharks for the zoo with only a 2000 gallon setup, especially nurse sharks? It seems like a large setup, but for sharks it really is nothing. Also what kind of zoo needs so many sharks that an LFS raises them? Most zoos will not take animals from people. The fact that the zoo would go through so many sharks that they need someone else to raise them is frightening.

he gets nurse sharks in that are in need of rehab or when they are bieng hatched , he keeps them till they are a bit bigger then the local zoo takes them,,the zoo just built there new aquarium because they never had sharks befroe so he has only been doing this for a short time( he himself just opened his new place) no offense but i hope people arent getting upset with me, i didnt say he was my father or that i am part of this, i was just askign if the species i could put in my tank were correct and what sharks i could get and a good place to get these animals( as you can tell i dont want to buy from him) he is a great guy but his animals are very pricey,,so any emails would be great with species and stores. Im not going ot be buying them for at least 6 weeks ( i have to cycle my new tank)but iw ould liek to start pricing them and reading more on the specific species im getting so that im ready for everythign when they arrive.
