I removed the plastic canopy (and the glass i tried on)
change to the 110w PC (artinic 03 + 10000K) instead of the NO fluorescent strips (artinic 03 + 20000K)
dont know if i should have made the change since it's only a FOWLR tank.
but here is the picture

white is not good, it means that there is little to no life on that area. Brown is diatoms, and purple/pink/maroon are best (coraline).

right now, there are only the hermits, the astrea snails and a coral banded shrimp.

Yes there is a relationship btwn o2 capacity of water and temp but a few degree with a tank that has proper turnover isnt going have any problems for the fish. There are several ppl that run the tank as hot as 86 all the time and have no adverse problems. If your still feeling the need to reduce the temp then a fan over the top of the water would reduce temp.

Opinions?
I put a damsel and a clownfish to start. They looked fine this morning when I left for work.

I didn't read the whole thread but when I got to that line, then looked at your location I have to ask... Is this LFS in Charlotte? Like Tropic Pets?? Cause that's EXACTLY what the guy told me!!!

I read that Pink Tip Haitian Anemone and clownfish are not in symbiose ... that they won't get along ...
anyone had tried them?

ahhaa i just witness the funniest things ever
well the clams just burrow themselves when i turned on the "night" light (flurorescent actinic 03 / 20W)
then that too funny one of the hermits attacked the queen conch, i guess to try to steal the shell ... well the conch "kicked" him with his "one leg" and ran away on it like really really fast and far far to the other corner of the tank...
this is cool
i tried to find some clownfish in my area ... could not find any ... less than $15 .. i saw 2 for $25 / each ... might order fish directly from this site ...
