here is an updated pic of my tank. I still cant seem to get my camera to take pics of the coral without it making everything look super blue. I think the MH light confuse the cameras shutter.

I plan on cleaning out the entire tank this weekend. I picked up a New RO/DI system with dual tds meter so I can battle and win the Cyano that started popping out while I was in spain. The cyano is minimum but I dont want take any chances so Im cleaning out the entire tank. I plan on using a gentle soft tooth-brush and a seperate tub to scrub away any cyano on the L.R. and Coral. I will also be cleaing the sandbed and anything else that looks like it needs scrubing.

DWP FORMULA for ELECTRICAL COST.
1). AMPS x VOLTS (120) = WATTS
2). WATTS x HOURS = WATTS PER HOUR (ENERGY)
3). WATTS HOURS ÷ 1000 = KWH (KILOWATT HOURS)
4). 0.07288 (RATE) x KWH = COST
EXAMPLE:
250 watts x 8 hours = 2,000 (total watts per hour)
2000 watts ÷ 1,000 = 2 KWH
.07288 rate x 2 KWH = 0.14576
So your payin 14 cents every 8 hours of use on a 250 watt fixture.
0.14576 x 3 = 0.43727 . So your paying 43 cents for 8 hours.

I went to one of my local LFSs today and it was closed. I usualy pay $65 cash for a 200 gallon mix of salt. Being that I needed te salt mix ASAP, I called around and found a place that had it for $39. I stopped by and picked up 2 boxes. I think I have enough salt for this year and the entire 2010 year.

I read that you neglected your tank while out of town, but it sounds like you just need to cut back on lighting and do some substantial water changes. I hate to see you go through all of that effort to clean all those rocks and have the cyano come back. You're just treating the symptoms, not the illness. Cyano is caused by excessive nutrients in the water. Try this first:
1) Turn off all your lights for 2-3 days. The cyano will start to come off the rocks in a stringy fashion.
2) Blow off any remaining cyano with a turkey baster.
3) Do a few 15&#37;-20% water changes over the following few days.

I called my buddy over at Seaworld to see if he could help me out. He told me to do a Kalk/Calcium boost. It seems Calcium causes the phosphates to evaporate, thereby depriving cyano of food, which in turn will be killing off the cyano. I tried it yesterday evening using a 3 gallon mix of kalk. When I woke up to se my tank today, the cyano was dried up and shriveling off like crust. I will have to monitor my calcium levels untill the cyano is gone.

Sounds like an interesting new approach.
Do watch your calcium levels though. I let mine get too high and I lost some SPS.

I keep track of my levels but when I left my tank for so long some of them got out of wack.
