Hello all
I've been living over in the nano section (20 gal high), but have been wishing for a horse reef for a year. I have been popping in to the seahorse section on and off reading your posts over the past year and various articles on seahorses casually here and there.
It so happened that my LFS had small seahorses in for the first time ever, and they were tank-raised and eating mysis. I think they are kuda. I also happen to have a quaranteen tank set up with a big clump of chaeto in it. So I baught 2 horses and named them Lancelot and Zoot, and they are in quaranteen. They are about 3 inches long. Currently I am working on making my reef safe for them. I have a few corals I must get rid of, (LPSs) and I need to catch a miniature purple lobster and get him out of there! I have ordered macroalgae and more pods from the petstore (although my tank has a ton; it's 2 years old and I seeded it with thousands of them over time). I am also going to put hitching posts in and create a sactuary area in the front of the tank. I have been feeding them 5-6 times a day to try and fatten them up; they seemed thin at the petstore where they had been for 1.5 weeks and I'm guessing they were not feeding them often enough, although they seem very healthy. In the next year I am hoping to set up a larger tank as well with at least 30 gallons for them.
So I thought I'd introduce myself and welcome advice!
cheers!
