Ok BOBBY I for one vote not to see pictures of your shark . I'm so tempted to go buy a new tank with my taxes . But I guess I'll take my own advice and wait till the big boy gets built before I get my sharks.

i dont have any full tank shots yet.. i gotta catch him in a good postion to take some, but beleive me he makes my tank look pretty big and hes already 12 inches long. Heres some more!! he LOVES how my rockwork is since their are two really big caves for him and ALOT of openings for him to weave in and out of!!

On a serious note i would recommend a 300+, i honestly wouldnt waste time if your going to buy a tank to house a shark, just go for it and get a HUGE tank right from the the get go, then you wont waste money having to upgrade for him when hes too large. if you just do it right from the begginning then you will be set!?!!

I would upgrade to something HUGE like a 90 if you plan on keeping him long term.

right now hes fine in the 55 he will be for a while even(accually the 55 is perfect to get him used to you hand feeding).make sure you give him a good variety of meaty foods daily even as often as 2 times a day for now .how well he eating now?.I feed mine daily chopped squid small krill and mysis shrimp,he just moved up to small silverslides recently also.foods are presoaked in a small cup of tank water with 2 drops garlic extreme and selcon before feeding.mine is now in a 300 gal reef and he comes to the top for me to feed him.i also started mine off in a small tank for a couple months to get him used to hand feeding. so good luck enjoy him i know I enjoy mine also

UNLEASHED...im sorry i was just kidding about him bieng in a 55...hes actually in my 205(ill show some full tank pics later), if you look close at the pics he is 12 inches long and he has a TON of room behind him in the tank. He wont be in there long though(not because its too small, they actually have TONS orf room) im going to move my shark and ray to a 500 gal. within 2-3 months(in the process of building it)..thanks for the feeding advice, i tried to feed him yesterday but he was scared and in the caves all day until night came, then he was swimming everywere!!

Thanks Tim,
its coming along well, the sheets of plywood are soo large and thick i also had to have them delivered to my house(dont know anyone with a big bed truck). My glass shop told me It will be at least another 3-4 weeks for the glass to arrive since i had to special order it and then they had to send it to get cut. But i need the time anyway and thats the last part so who cares! , i already have most of the supplies, i just picked up 2 cases of silicone and a case of liquid nails, along with 2 gallons of fiberglass and 2 gallons of epoxy(i think it should be enough) at the price of it i dont want to get too much until i run out!! i already have 2.5 inch deck screws , wood putty, etc..
im also trying to order a pallet of sand(their somewhat cooperative with this), since i need 800 pounds for a 3 inch sand bed. Its alot of fine details im working out right now but all is coming along well and in no time those fish will have a MONSTER home!!
:joy:
hows your tank looking?? from those pics you sent me it looks as if your doing a great job and like myself you will be building a monster of your own in 2 months!! its just way too addicting!

What did you end up with on the ply? What kind of sili did you get? How much do you think I'll need?
Right now I'm waiting on the hole saws I ordered from lau. Should be a few days. I got the OFs done and have to build the drain box. Once the holes are drilled then I'll order the front panel b/c if I screw up the holes the tank will go in the trash and I will start over.
I'm really considering a 200+ ply tank but I want side windows so I haven't quite figuired out the design yet and I'm waiting for you to get a 500 gal BATH :scared: :hilarious J/K of course!
Been taking pics of the glass cutting and such. Will post when the holes are done and I start to build. ***)

TurningTim What did you end up with on the ply? What kind of sili did you get? How much do you think I'll need?
i got 10 ply birtch, this is what i built my first ply tank with and what is reccomended for larger tanks like mine.
i got the aquarium silicone(thats literally the name) i figurre ill need 4-6 tubes for the glass against the wood and another 6-8 to seal around the outside. i will be using the back and of the tube as the applicator, thats how thick the bead will be on the inside(flattened out of course)
for an all glass tank i did my 205 with 2 tubes for the seems, joints, inside and out.
with the ply tank the sides would be easy to do, all you would have to do is cut "viewing" windows out of the wood just like you would do to the front, just not as large
shoot me an email if you got any more questions, ic an draw the blueprint up for you if you would like me too
