I just start a salt water tank; 60 gallons, fluvo 305, 15lbs of live rock, 6 hermit crab.
Just add a 3" foxface rabbitfish 2 day ago. She seem ok...eating and swimming around
What should I do next? Can I add a tang or a lion fish as her tank mate?
Regards

Welcome to the site!
I'm a little confused, you said you just started it today, but then say that a fish was added two days ago, so how long has this tank been up and running?
Tangs really are not suited for a 60G tank. They require 90-100+ gallons, as they are open water swimmers.
Have you ever kept a saltwater tank before?
Ultimately, what do you want to have in this tank? What fish do you like?

Sorry for the confusion. I used to be a freshwater guy. I have owned many freshwater tank. My current freshwater tank is 46 gallons with bunch of plants and rainbow fishes.
After much reading I decided to venture into saltwater world. I bought a 60 gallons complete set established tank with live sand and fluvo 305. I cycled tank for 2 weeks with about 12 lbs of live rock and 6 hermit crabs. I just add a foxface 2 days ago. I also took sample water to store and they confirm water is good to go.
I love to have a few colorful peacefull fish such as Foxface I currently have.
Thanks

honestly i dont trust people at stores to check my water....theyll tell you its good just so u buy some fish or coral pieces their! You can get standard test which includeds Ph, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate for at the most $30...i get em online for cheaper.
My suggestion would be more LR for this tank.
o and welcome

Ah, okay, that makes more sense. Well, welcome to the dark side

Do you plan on a reef (corals) or just fish with live rock (FOWLR). Make the Foxface be the largest fish in that tank. IMO, you're pushing it having one in the 60G, so definitely don't stress it by adding other large fish. A lot of fish suggestions will depend on what type of tank you want.
Also, get your own test kits (API) if you don't already have them. I try not to trust the stores either.

Hi, and Welcome. One thing to remember with salt water-Go Slow.
You really need more rock. You can add base rock like Marco Rock and not have it effect your water- just be sure to rinse it good. I would add at least another 40 to 50 lbs. It is recommended to have 1 to 1 and half lbs per gal. Base rock will soon turn to live rock. You can also just put it in a tub of saltwater for a week or so, and slowly add it to your tank. One nice thing about base rock is you can drill it and stack it to make really cool rock formations without worrying about the bacteria on the rock dieing
For fish, I would stick to some smaller ones- there are plenty of very beautiful small fish.
Look at fairy or flasher wrasses - pygmy angels - royal gramma or black cap basslets (only pick one) - blennys have a lot of character too. You can go here just to get an idea of the type of fish you want https://www.saltwaterfish.com/Fish_c_15.html

Thank you guys
I work late today but will post some pictures tomorrow night if I can go home early. The fox face still swimming strong. I amm feeding her with mysis shrimp and flake.
Question about base rock, is lava ok?. I think I can buy some lava rock at local rockery store. I also plan to buy some more live roch this weekend.
I intend to build a fish and live rock only tank.I have an NH3 test kit but will buy a ph test kit tomorrow.
Thanks a lot for all suggestion, information

no, don't use lava rock. It is more likely to leach things into your tank. Marco rock is very affordable and completely safe. You wouldn't need to buy any more live rock and save a ton of money.

You can't use Lava Rock, it contains a lot of metals that can slowly leach into your water and cause a lot of damage. You really need base rock meant for saltwater tanks, it's usually dried out live rock, or just go with live rock that is already cured which will be more expensive. Macro Rock is a good alternative and can save some money, some sites call it "eco rock". If you "google" Macro Rock, the first site that comes up is great.
You need more than a pH kit and a NH3. Grab the API Saltwater Master Kit: http://www.aquariumpharm.com/Products/Product.aspx?ProductID=68 It will give you test kits for high range pH, Nitrite, Nitrate and Ammonia. It's also a good idea to have the API KH (carbonate hardness) and Calcium test kits. They are sold individually, but also come in the Reef Master Kit.

Sorry, really hard to post a pictute with the ipad.
Here is picture of the lone fish. She is still healthy as i prepare to move her from garage to living room.
I am having Fluval 305 for filtration. Should i add a HOB skimmer or replace the Fluval with a sum and a skimmer.
Again, thanks a lot

Thank you..ok I will go with the sum and use the fluval for my rainbow tank. I am negotiating with a guy on Craiglist for a set of sum, skimmer, overflow box, and return pump...
Now dump question about stocking...Can I add a blue hippo tang, black cap bassel and 2 clown fish to my tank?
Thanks

I would not do a hippo. They are open water swimmers and need at least a 6 ft tank.
If you are looking for something blue. go with something like a pygmy Angel or even a trio of blue reef chromis.
Nice pic-You definitely need more rock in there. Either get some base rock or keep an eye out of CL for someone tearing down a tank. This will also help stabilize your tank and keep it stable.

Thank you TeresaQ. Aim ordering 20lbs of base rock and a clean up crew from reef cleaner.org .
Dump question about stocking again, Should I add a lion fish instead of a blue tang

Lionfish are going to eat anything they can fit in their mouths and really need to be trained to eat frozen before they're put in a reef tank.

It's perfectly safe to order from a reputable company online. Are you aware that this forum is ran by a store?
Chromis do better in odd numbers, just be aware of that.
You're not planning on adding all of these fish at once, are you?

do you have a QT set up. You should not add all those at one time. one at a time, unless its a small pair or if you have say a trio of the same species.
I would say get the clowns first - QT them for a few weeks, add them to your main tank then QT the three Chromis. Watch them in QT for a few weeks then you can prob do the royal gramma and the angel.
Fish really should be put into QT so you can watch them closely for illness and to make sure they are eatting good. This also gives you tank time to build more bacteria to handle the addition of new fish.
