New tanks rock my socks

Been a while since I posted and now I have great news
! I finally sold my paintball gun and can upgrade to my dream tank! 40 breeder here I come
!
But I am running into some logistical problems. I'll do my best to explain but let me know if you guys need clarification.
Here is my situation: I am currently living with my in-laws while my family waits for a short sale home to close. We've been waiting forever but should be moving in by the end of February (keep your fingers crossed). I have my 29g set up and running here without any big hitches thankfully.
Here is my dillema: I'm torn about whether I should set up the tank here and just move it when we close the house or if I should wait to set it up when we are settled in.
Here are the problems I'm facing with the dillema:
1) Space is kinda limited but it would be doable to set up the tank at the in-laws
2) I need to use the stand my 29g is on for the 40b and it will require some minor modifications to get it to fit and look nice.
3) I'll be drilling the 40b so drilling and making sure the plumbing works will take time but not a month to do it.
So should I get it running at the in-laws and just move the tank when we get the house (something I'll do for 29g anyway)? Or should I get the tank, drill it, plumb it and just wait to get it running when I can set it in the house?
Thanks for your help and any opinions (as long as they are smart) are welcomed.

I would put the 40b in the new house get it going then at the end of the move-in transfer the live-stock.
Being family you could leave the 29gal till the 40 gets established...

this is more a personal opinion kind of question, and as far as mine goes,
id wait... just for the ease of transition...
get everything set up test it out and then the week after you get moved in and settled get moving,,,,
why not just collect everything that you want for the tank for now, sand, powerhead, plumbing, lights and then test everything makes sure you like how it looks and sounds and then when you get to your new house set it up,,,
your already gonna have to move the smaller tank.. and all your furniture, yadda yada yadda...get settled and then get moving on it....

I'll be using the stand, protein skimmer and sump from my 29 so I can't fully set up the 40b until I dismantle the 29. As far as establishing new rocks and sand, I have a 15g that I could cram the stuff into while I wait.

this is what I'm leaning towards but thoughts are; if I get everything now why not just set it up?

True, it would be twice the work wouldn't it?
Set up 40b at in-laws then move it
vs.
Move 29 into 40b with the house move
I'm just worried about leaving the fish in buckets while I get the stand ready. They would be fine for a few days if I put a powerhead and heater in with them right?

if you are moving everything into the 40 breeder from the 29g when you move, why dont you just break down the 29 after you get moved in since itll be at your inlaws then get the 40b set up the same day and get everything transfered, then move the 29g to your new house?.....

That is what i decided on finally. I'm getting all the stuff so i can get the tank the way i want then come moving day i'll take down the 29 and fix the stand.
It makes me a little nervous that the stand won't be ready 'til last minute but I think I can get it ready in time.

I think I'll turn this into my tank diary. I've been looking for something to fill the hours online anyway lol.
So that means an update:
The tank is drilled (2 1.5" durso drains and 1 3/4" return). I have the drains on the left of the tank and the return on the right. Just like my 29.
One drain will be the primary and the other is just a back up incase the primary clogs or something. The 1.5" handles plenty of flow for my needs.
The back is painted and it is a little messed up on the right side but I think it'll be covered by rocks anyway so I'm not worried.
I have dry rock in my 29 getting ready. I bought cheato so hopefully that'll help with the cyano problem I've been having. I think it is the water I'm using; time to start saving for my own RODI. I also bought a sweet orange linkia and firefish. The star is doing good now moving around and I just put the firefish in today. I don't have a lid or cover right now so I'll be praying he stays put til his new home.
I still have a list of things to do while I'm waiting on my house which includes:
Building a new stand
A guard for my overflow
An anti-jumper net
A reflector for my fuge light
I'll get pics up as soon as I can, probably after school tomorrow.
Thanks for reading!
