hi, my name is Max and im pretty new to this site
. i've been spending some time here reading your posts ,and they seem to be very helpful. i have 29gl tank with FOWLR ,and 2 Hermit crabs. i have been thinking about converting my FOWLR into a reef tank. im not sure where to start ,so i would really apriciate any advice and feedback. i also just purchased coral life 130W with moonlights to start my project.there's about 15lb of live rock in my tank ,and coral safe fish from what i've read. im posting a few recent photos of my tank and would really gladly take any advice you guys would give me.
i have more pics, and i'll be more than happy to post them.

thank you all for reading ,and looking forward to getting to know you all better.
Max

oh boy...
first welcome to the boards :)
the tank looks nice, but here are a couple issues you're going to have:
1) the yellow tang is going to, and actually has already, overgrown your tank.
2) those hermits are not considered reef safe and will eat any corals if you do go through with adding them.
3) you're going to want to add about 3x the amount of live rock you have in there
4) if i'm not mistaken, you have 2 pygmy angels in your tank (at least). they are most likely going to fight each other.
mind if i ask what your experience is, and how old the tank is?

Those are damsels.

the one in the middle on pic 3 is a damsel? looked like a (edit) dwarf angel. oh well.
the damsels will kill everything anyway :)

Yes its not real but I thought that this was a saltwater tank. If you want to FO anyways driftwood shouldnt be there. Its not going to hurt the fish they just may be confused and to me it dosent look good. Its an eye sore other than that and the tang it looks good.

it's been through 2 cycles. and now amonia is at 0,and nitrites are also at 0.
nitrates are between 20-40...and holding for the last month. i have also been using RO water that i get from my LFS.
haven't lost any fish so far...

Did you order the live rock off the Internet? If so, you're probably going to have to cure it outside of the tank before adding it. And you really do have too many fish. As has already been mentioned, the tang should probably find a new home. And that sergeant major damsel is going to get quite big (maybe 8 inches) and may actually kill everything else.
