I will actually never buy another american car since I switched to Honda. My Pontiacs and Dodge's all had nothing but wiring issues and motor/transmission issues. My Fiero was a nightmare. The lights would turn on, even if the key wasn't in the ignition. It would be 4am and all of a sudden the ******** lights turned on, or the head lights would flip up and turn on. Blew the motor in that baby. Had a new motor put in and had nothing but issues. Then owned a Plymouth Duster. Went through 2 auto trannies in under 18 months. Then I had a Sebring, flying pile of junk. Then a Pontiac Grand Am. I begged for a Grand AM and boy and I sorry I did. That car was an electrical and mechanical nightmare. It was the last American car for me. My honda's have NEVER given me even half the issues my american cars did.
I'm all for buying American, but for me, from personal experience, they're just not the same. I beat the hell out of my accord and it's wonderful. Oil changes and I'm basically good to go. It helps that hubby was a Honda mechanic.
I'd imagine that growing up in Detroit would make you biased to US cars, but they just don't do it for me. Now, give me a older Dodge, I'll take that any day, but not as my daily driver.
Okay, Im in, you forced me to do it. Toyota sucks, I have Minisours(?) mind. American completely destroys imports for the most part.
Toyotas put out $hit and people buy it. Toyota have better fuel economy? Nope, my dad had an old escort (forgot the year) and he got 45 MPG out of it. He wasn't racing rice burners at a light though.
As far as my dream car, it would be a 1969 Ford mustang Mach1. All original except maybe paint.
Honda makes a pretty good car so i will give you that, Almost everything out as far as cars go is almost the same. Toyotas just suck. You ever notice on the news how toyotas' gas pedals stuck? Then 1 day you never heard about it again, I wonder who they paid off?
Dodges tend to have some not so reliable transmissions, same w/ pontiacs.
I think all the muscle cars put out by the big 3 are some extremely nice cars, the mustang, camero, and charger are all gorgeous cars.
As far as trucks go, Ford puts out the best, along with Chevy. Then there is dodge, then there is the want to be trucks made by toyota.
here is a nice little video for you to watch as far as quality is concerned.
