New True Percs!

I got a pair of new true percs this weekend form a guy who owns a coral farm in Columbus (very cool) I'll get some pics up later tonight! But I do have some questions...
They aren't eating the tetramarine flakes I put in, they take it into their mouths then they spit it out, maybe the food is bad? It doesn't have an expiration and the guy I got it from could have had it a long time. I'm waiting on an email from the farm to see what they were eating there. I do have some bloodworms in my freezer are those any good to feed to saltwater fish???
I have a lot of flow in the tank, it is a 12g and I probably have close to 25x turnover per hr. They are always swimming in the current at the front of the tank, will this tire/stress them out or do they handle high flow well?
The smaller of the two, and also lightly colored (male?) only has 1 ventral fin... if this how they are supposed to be and is it a difference between the sexes?? Or do I have a gimp fish and should I name him nemo lol.

And here is a great shot of his deformation...

Is that coral farm at the guys house? If so, I have been there and I agree, it is AWESOME!!! If we are talking about the same place, he was featured on PBS last weekend! I knew he was planning on raising percs, but hadn't started them yet the last time I was there...were there any more left?

Ya that's the place, I didn't see the special though =(
These were the only two he had, I think he has some occellius (sp lol) but I didn't see them. I'm pretty sure he said he was getting a new shipment of like 30-40 percs after he sold these to me so he might have more in a couple weeks. They were $35 each.
I saw them eating flake there, but they aren't eating mine... is it acclimation trouble I dripped them for over an hr and they are very active (swimming against the current).

It depends on how old they are and how long they have been paired together. If they were in a large grouping of percs then odds are neither one is female yet. However the larger one most likley will be eventually. They do seem to enjoy swimming in the current, mine do anyway but I would say that its a good idea to have areas in your tank where the current isnt so strong. As for eating, its always a good idea to use same food that the store you purchased them from was using then slowly work your food into their diet. Blood worms are ok but they will benifit more IMO from some other form of vitamin enriched food type.
How long have they been in your tank for? Acclimation shock can take as long as 3 days to show. After that if no signs of stress or heavy breathing your in the clear. If they die after the 3 day mark IMO it was from some other reason not acclimation shock.

If you are looking for his food type, I have seen him use Formula 2 flakes in his coral tanks that have tangs and other fish in them (his personal fish)...what did you think of the lace rock aquarium that he has set up in the greenhouse???

$35 each seems a little steep when you look at this site as well as LFS...generally in the #15-$20 range...but I am sure that he only sells quality stuff (judging by his corals and rock)

Today is the 2nd full day they have been in the tank, they seem really healthy aside from not eating. My question was is the single ventral fin a deformation or do all clownish have 1 and then grow another??? Pretty sure it is a deformation.

Ya it was a little steep but then again they are paired, false perc pairs are $90 on here and I don't mind paying a little extra for quality fish from someone who I know has taken great care of them.

No thats definatly a deformation or battle wound, you truly have a Nemo...well kinda, its in the rear instead of up front.

Ya that's what I thought. There is absolutely no mark or scar so it isn't a wound must be the next step in clown fish evolution.
Pics in 5min!

are they a mated pair or were they just together?
They are definitely well cared for fish, as I know Todd does a great job with everything there. If they are mated...then you got a steal that I will definitely look to take advantage of myself when he gets more in.

They are a pair but they aren't old enough to mate, I'm not even sure the --- formation has completed yet, although one is noticeably darker and larger than the other so the process may be happening. I'm hoping to start raising some babies in 4-6 months

Yea that tank was awesome, I love what he does with that lace, so many platforms and so much space for corals to do their thing. His wave set up was really cool too. Todd is living the dream, hopefully I can get there some day too =)
