NFL draft thread!!! ESPN reports, Stafford's the guy...

Stafford will do well if the Lions can resist putting him in the fire until next year, when hopefully they can draft or trade for or sign some decent offensive linemen. IF they stick to their plan of letting Culpepper take the beating this year and letting Stafford learn, they'll be fine...
That being said, they are the LIONS for a reason...sorry Crimzy

ohh ya... and USC opening up against the U of I Vandals is such a great game...

Miss St and Vandy would be a match up for any PAC 10 team...
They must sell a potent strain on crack in Idaho

Sanchez #5???????
Don't know how he will do in the NFL but coming out for the draft this year makes him look like a genius, Next year he probably wouldn't even go in the first round.
Be interesting to see what KnoShow does in Denver, If they can iron out the QB issue this could be a great offense for him to be in.

I must be hallucinating... DID THE LIONS JUST TAKE A FREAKING TIGHT END WITH THEIR FIRST ROUND PICK???
Ladies and gentlemen, this is the textbook example of how to blow a great opportunity!! What a joke...

Disagree 100%....Very solid pick and well make an excellent safety valve for your young QB....There are only a hand full of really good pass catching tight ends in the league, this guy could definitely be one.

problem is the lions have no defense and no offensive line - last thing they need is another skill position - less they plan on going max protect every single play, pettigrew fills neither need.

I predict the Lions will win a game this year

I think the tight end makes sense in light of taking the QB

The Lions need everything....They should take the best player available regardless of what position he plays.
Love the Cards pick, even though I hate THE Ohio St with a passion, Beenie Wells is a solid back. Sorry to say because I really like him, but bye bye Edge James.

Well they f%#$@&ed me again!! This is eerily reminiscent of the Millen era. Let's not forget that this team promoted Millen's second in command after he got fired, instead of going out and getting someone legitimate. Then they found a new head coach... who was the D-coordinator of the 31st worst D in the NFL last year, (Lions were 32nd).
Our new coach preached about the value of building a team from within... then we go out and draft a QT and TE in the first round, and a safety in the second. I didn't follow all day but I caught that they picked up ONE linebacker, a running back and a receiver, (not sure what else). Not that second day draft picks even turn into NFL players with the Lions, but did they even try to address the trenches??

This team is enamored with skill positions. The reality is that you win in the NFL with a good defense and strong trenches. We will win no more than 3 games next year!!!
