I restarted computer...twice......tried my other laptop...same thing
reset the wireless modem/router (whatever it is called) both by the button and by unplugging it
Obviously I have the internet....LOL..or I would not be typing this.....I am on my desktop
The wireless light on the router IS ON

Did you accidentally hit the key/button on your laptop that turns the wireless card on/off? My daughter's laptop quit working on the wireless one time, and I enabled/disabled the card, checked the driver, and almost went and replaced the card. All of a sudden, I noticed this button on her keyboard that had the wireless signal on it. It was one of the keys you had to hit with the Function key to turn it on and off. Held the Function key down, hit the key, and VOILA, wireless started working again.

NOPE...BUT just to try it out...LOL...I hit that function key....turned off the wireless...and now turned it back on
NOTHING :(
When I look up my connection, under connections it says connected
next to access type: It says no internet access
apparently I have internet...LOL....I'm on it

Have you 'disconnected' from your wireless SSID (that's the name of the wireless connection you get from your wireless router), and reconnected again? When you do that, you have to enter in the WEP Key that your provider gave you. Do that and see if it will at least get a connection to the wireless router. It's possible you're not getting a valid IP Address from your provider. Without the IP, you won't connect to the internet. If you open up your wireless connection, there's usually a 'Repair' button. Try hitting that to see if it will connect.

What happens when you hook your laptop to the cable you're using for your desktop. As we see, that connection works fine. If your laptop won't get an IP Address using the desktop cable, and you can't get out on the internet with it, then it's something on your laptop.

OK...I just got my other laptop to work, BUT not the new one
should I do a restorre ont it
That's a little extreme. So two of the three computer work, but not this new Dell (I think you said you bought a Dell). Let's go back. When's the last time you did get it connected to the internet?
Do this for me. Go to your desktop that is working. Go to Start, then find the Run command and click it. When the box opens up, type in CMD. You should then get the old-style DOS box on your screen. At the C: prompt, type in 'ipconfig/all' and post the results.
Then connect your laptop to the same cable as your desktop. Do the same steps above to get the DOS box. When you get the C: prompt, type in 'ipconfig/release'. Wait until the prompt comes back, then type 'ipconfig/renew'. After the prompt comes back again, type the command 'ipconfig/all' and post those results here.

IT'S FIXED
Apparently the Mcafee firewall that came with the computer killed all my settings
I have uninstalled Mcafee and I am now going to download a free program called AVAST

That would do it. Forgot about Firewall settings. I use Avast on all my home PC's. It's just as robust, and catches the same viruses and malware that any of the 'paid' virus software's detect. Sounds like you got connected to the right Tech Support guy.
