Our Lord and Saviour will apologize for Bush driving them to this and offer a federal bailout for their failing government.

Although North Korea insists the rocket is designed to do no more than put a communications satellite into orbit, Washington and Tokyo, among others, insist it is a covert attempt to test a Taepodong-2 missile capable, in theory, of striking Alaska or Hawaii.
This is not entirely uncharted territory for any of the parties. North Korea provoked international anger when it test-fired a Taepodong-1 missile – a less sophisticated version of the rocket now being primed for takeoff – over Japanese territory in 1998.

I'm a "Hawk" and I say let them launch what they want. I don't think we should ask anybody's permission to launch what we want to. North Korea is an independent country, they should feel ok to launch what they want. We should have a couple boomers off their coast to erase them from the map if they do something stupid. But, let 'em launch.

I agree slightly. I think they have the right to test military equipment as long as its not nuclear and does not interfear with other countries. I think they have the right to protect themselves if need be from other countries. I mean, we test fast jets and plans for the military. They might not be missles but they can carry some and they can do damage.

I agree.....While we may not like rogue nations having missles, nukes, etc. aren't we the only country who has actually dropped an H bomb on humans? (I understand the reasoning and support the decision made to use it in WW2.)
Seems the countries that have 'the bomb' want no one else to 'join the club'.
This might sound trite, but if everyone around us had nukes we would surely be trying to develop one despite UN sanctions, etc.
I don't like N.K. having nukes but I understand why they want them. I agree with mantis that we should be prepared to stike quickly and with devastating force if there is reason to do so. But to do so when they are testing is not wise.

Japan is also a sovereign nation whose rights have been violated. North Korea does not have the right to fly a missile over another nation's airspace, which is what they did.
