Pal sorry for not answering your question about my therapy. I have been busy dealing with the pain I am allowed one 25mg oxy every 4 to 6 hrs but I am trying to get by with one every 24hrs (I hate the constipation and the zonked feeling ). As far as the therapy on the day of surgery they had me on a walker and to my first session about 4hrs after surgery. The next day it was two sessions one at 9am and one at 2pm. on Thursday the day of my release again 9 and 2. Friday my in house therapist came sessions Friday, Saturday. Then once a day from Monday to Sat. I am off today Sunday and start my outpatient therapy on Monday 3X a week. Have been told that should last from 4 to 6 weeks. I would greatly appreciate any expertise you can bring to the table.
Your friend Joe

So Joe, How was the therapy this morning?
Keith I just got back from therapy and having my blood drawn for my Coumadin check. I popped an Oxy 2hrs before therapy. It started out with a knee massage and the removal of the remaining adhesive strips. Then a check of range of motion. Rt. 0 to 110 Lft 0 to 115 then on the stationary bike for 15 min and then two stretching exercises. Ice and Tenz machine came next and I was finished for the day. I was assured it would get more intense as I progress. I forgot to mention to you that I also take one Meloxicam tab 7.5 mg a day. On my non therapy days I am going to go with one 650 mg of acetaminophen twice a day. In all honesty I do feel spent right now.

Sounds like you had a very productive morning. The Tylenol will help with break through pain as the ice. The pain issue unfortunately is an unavoidable demon, however you can make it more tolerable.
Yes it will get more intense as you go but before you know it you won't even realize your doing therapy without difficulty.
How much longer are you going to be on Coumadin therapy?

BTW...... Lol..... you might want to watch your "Beverage" intake while taking Meloxicam. Just an FYI.

I here you on PT I swear that Physical Therapy Techs all must be Sadists in a Former Life. Why the ones I had after my shoulder Surgery were like Lets see how far we can bend it the week they REMOVED it from the Imoblizer. Now remember this I had not even had that off for over 2 weeks given the amount of damage to my shoulder. Tech grabbed my arm and went lets see how much Range we have before I meaning the tech goes I feel restriction. I was ready to hit a woman for the FIrst time in my life. My wife was sitting there and went do that again and I will throw you over the railing. Her Supervisor comes in see what she is doing and goes WTF did you not see his Brace on that arm. She went I did not see anything to severe in his Chart.
She had the WRONG CHART Pulled. She set me back 3 weeks in my recovery. Luckily I did not get damaged in her Stupidity. Now just waiting for the Surgeon here to go OK time to do the repair. I might get lucky and get the Student of the guy that did my First one to do my next one as my Doc left town so we had to find a new one and the New one is Not affliated with our Hospital. But they are a Better Hospital Chain.

Dude you have had the worst luck of anyone I ever knew...the wrong chart ...

My Mom was taken to physical therapy the day after surgery...she had both knees replaced. The lady bent her knee, no warning just picked up my moms leg and bent it all the way heel to the back of her thigh...my mother fainted from the pain and wet the bed....as she was waking up the lady had the other leg and did the same thing. Had I of been there I would be in jail today. I complained on her behalf but the staff insisted it was routine to do that. I'm no doctor so I didn't argue too much, but when we went back to visit she was on a slow motion bicycle thing on the bed slowly bending her knees for therapy.
I do believe that if someone faints and loses bodily funtions from pain during therapy you did something wrong, therapy my hurt but wow, seriously??? The lady should have enough sense to not turn around and do the same thing to the other leg but be aware she was working with someone who clearly couldn't handle that kind of pain.
I'm glad you are okay Joe, and all is well with you...but that is one surgery I will never have.

Trouble was I had the Surgery Done in Des Planies by the Surgeons Professor and the PT was being done close to my house down by Bloomington at the time. See the PT tech thought I was still juet getting PT she had NOT gotten my UPDATED chart with what they had done in the Surgery. Even though there WAS A NOTE TO DO SO ON THE COVER OF IT. She did make it up to me with how caring she was after that Screw up still I had not needed any pain meds for Weeks that night I lived on them.

LOL...I told you we had scary stories...At least your surgery is over and all is well, nothing like that happened to you. Physical therapy is hard and not pleasent, but pushing through pain is nothing like inflicted pain caused by an idiot who can't decern another persons limits. I have had my share of physical therapy as well, and I have never had anyone treat me like that. It was always pushing just a little and doing better as you go.
