YES!
I didnt turn the heater on at all today to see how it would go and set a big fan at the feeding door thing with it propped open so its sucking the heat out of hood.
Temp is down to 79.7 WOO! Gives me some ideas as what to do for a permanent solution  since a chiller at $200 isnt one of them.
Going to test the water and take some new pics of my happy live rock.

Any comments on how my cycle is progressing would be appreciated!
I feel the need for hermits, already the algae is starting to slowly but surely bloom!

:cheer: :joy: Looks to me that your tank is cycling well. I would add the hermies after your amonia hits 0. Glad the fan worked for you! About those red bugs... Bristle worms or fire worms maybe? I'm not shure. But, I do love your rockwork! Keep us posted as you add cleanup crews, and what kind of fishies are you thinking of?

reeffreak9 About those red bugs... Bristle worms or fire worms maybe? I'm not shure.? Here are 2 orange bugs (bristle worms) I found in my tank. Unfortunately htese two came as hitchhickers on a piece of fully cured LR I put into my tank. Do they look like tiny ones of these? [url=https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/image/noimage/true said:

Eek, definitely not bristle worms, they are BAAAARELY macroscopic, I think amphipods and copopods, which is bueno!
Thanks for the compliments! The ammonia went down to .25 so I added 10 baja hermits and 2 electric blue leggers, Spike, Rex and the band of Merry Hooligans!
Reaarranged the rockwork a wee bit, will def post some pics in a moment!

Lesse....
Want a couple small derasa or squamosa clams, and two Twin Spot Gobies (Four Wheel Drive Goby). Also would like a mated pair of clowns to go with a BTA, my wholesaler is raising them under PC with impressive success and lack of bleaching.
Might be plenty at four fish but am tempted by a sixline wrass or a Royal Gramma to hideout in my rockwork. Corals? Zoos and Xenia and Shrooms.

Thanks, will have to wait till Rex comes out so he doesnt get left out!
With the fans on I seem to be added a LOT more water, prolly just evaporation from the open tank lid and all the air goin' around.

You live out in Orange County? I live out in Burbank and it is freaken hot outside!!!!!! I too have a fan on my tank to keep it cool but because it is so hot, the water evaporates so much!
Your tank looks good so far. I like your original rock work though because it looked like it had a cave but not anymore. I was doing some reading and I'm not sure if you could keep those 4wheel drive gobies because I heard they need a lot of pods. Minimum tank requirement was 50gal? I think, let me know what you know or if anyone else knows anything about them.

Four wheel drives are super tiny, only about 2.5 inches, min tank size of 25 gal, and believe me I have a FREAKISH pod bloom going on!
My hermits are acting weird! One died last night, thus a small ammonia spike, heres the tank params for today.
Sal: 1.024
PH: 7.9
Amm: 3
Nitrate: 5 (down)
Temp: 82.6
Had a little bit of a temp fluctuation that I thought my be bothering the baja hermits, they all were really inactive today. One died, which the freaky pod bugs are SWARMING, I have NEVEr seen so many in one tank, they are all over the glass and the sandbed looks like its moving!
One of the hermies decided to ditch his shell while i didnt have any new ones in there, so I sifted through my massive collection from Baja and found some that might be his size and tossed them in. He's sort of staring at them with one claw in his old shell as though considering what to do.....
:help: what's up with my crabs!

Okay so the hermit that ditched his shell died and has been swarmed by the pods, which have apparently taken over the tank. They are alllll over the glass and sandbed and are really kind of scary.
Also got one h*ll of an algal bloom going on... Oh joy...
Params for today:
Sal: 1.025
PH:7.9
Amm: 4
Nitrate: 10
Temp: 81.9

Hey, are you shure the things taking over your tank are pods? I think it sounds freaky! :scared: You should try to post a pic of them for us. I agree, that I like your rockwork before better... I think it looks cool now too. But before it looked real ominous... spooky :scared: ... cave like. Anyhow, I liked it! Back to the creepy h
ll pods, I never heard of anything like it!? Well good luck with that, and sorry to hear about your crab... I dunno what could have happened,
anyone?

Mk so the algal bloom continues. Im losing tons of water to evaporation lately with this fan running 24/7. The crabs seem to be doing better, will update with a picture later.
