I'm just going to do daily water changes for a month. The soap residual soap can't last in there forever. The charcoal and the water changes should take care of it I hope.
What are you going to do with the stuff that lived? Keep it in the totes?

No. It's in the tank now with tap salt water. I am going to do daily water changes with R/O water for a month to get any small traces out. I broke down the whole tank, drained the soapy water and tossed the sand, rinsed and dried. Filled with tap water and salt. Added rock and coral and the rinsed equipment to start over. Waiting on sand in the mail.

So you are getting new Live sand...or dead sand? and then what.....are you going to take the stuff back out to add the sand, or try to carefully add it with the stuff in there???

Dead sand in mail. Might grab a small bag of live sand at fish store to get things started. I will add sand to the tank. The rocks are against the back and right side.

Sorry for your loss there...that really does suck. You probably want to just go back in time right now and use the other bucket, but just keep in mind that we all do stupid stuff sometimes.
I remember disconnecting my chiller line and watching about a gallon of saltwater start pumping out all over my expensive light timers and getting the sh@$ shocked out of me all at the same time. I was so pissed.
Or when I spent about 2 weeks making my own sump from acrylic only to realize that it didnt even fit in my stand! Pissed again!
Or forgetting to turn down the thermostat on a 110 degree day before I had my chiller. That was the worst day! Lost a lot! Myself and everyone on here have made tons of mistakes, but you just have to suck it up and move on.
