OK my LFS just got two more in.........they told me that there are legal issues about these guys, and VERY shortly, it may be impossible to ship them, collect them, or sell them anywhere.......I have a purplish one, and a red one......the red one looks like the one in tangs link, but a little bigger........I don't know if ten bucks will cut it if these guys will be impossible to get........perhaps I should hold onto them. They actually cost me twenty bucks each, but if they won't be possible to buy, I bet the price will go up dramatically soon. The red one has his ophendellar cell wide open.......VERY cool to see when the tank lights are off!!!!

I have them far apart at the moment......don't know if they will breed or fight....there are slight differences, so I imagine they are actually different species.:( I was looking at the tank about five minutes ago, and the purple looking one is now releasing bioluminescent hematopical fluid into the water.....could be an attempt at spawning, or a wound.......just am not sure yet.....he's so new, I doubt it is good.

if you get the canadian one, make sure that you don't get one that's French Canadian. It will only live if you speak French to it, but you have to speak under the water line or you it will get "Dry-ear Syndrome" (which I hear is very hard to treat).
If you don't speak French, then it will insult and taunt you all day and fart in your general direction.
"You don't frighten us, English pig-dogs! Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person. I blow my nose at you, you and all your silly English kaniggets. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of eldeberries.":D

Ok OK.. Got a few questions here.
1. How big do they get, and what size tank should they be in. (Ive heard they are not good for nano tanks)
2. exactly what do you feed them.
3. What are the lighting requirments, because I see some are interested that I don't think have the proper lighting. (another case of they will try anyway)
4. I have also heard that they can fall to predation of certain nudibranches, is this true?
5. Though I have read some articles where they can be kept alive for a good number of years, it seems that the higher elevations like Colorado and such have had poor luck in keeping them. Is it an oxygen thing?
And finally I think the one with the most experience should be doing a Coral of the Week on these guys, or is it Fish of the Week, or is it.....wait a minute what were we talking about. :D

This thread will self destruct in one week.

1. they can get anywhere from 2" too 34"
2. they prefer trigger formula, but like the occasional watermelon meal.
3. In order too maintain a happy one, they need incandescent lighting ( mh's / pc's / flor's make them go blind)
4. yes, its true.
5. yep, its the oxygen thing.

Out of touch huh? Well you just tell me what book you read about them in will ya? Go ahead go to the bathroom I'll wait...................................... Nothing written on the paper? Didn't think so. :D :D
If I can't get a straight answer for Tangsfornuttin then I'll call my lilbudy, lebowski. I'm sure he has some as its right up his ally as a professional.
P.S. I heard they eat Mollies.

I hear that after many years of urging people to keep these in their tanks, Dr. Ron has just declared these as toxic to the reef system. Especially those with a DSB, or any sand for that matter. It seems that these little fellas have a very adverse reaction to sand and crushed coral.:(

Well I tried to get a decent pic of my breeding pair.
Since they are so elusive in the tank when the lights are on, taking a good photo of them is always difficult.
If I use the flash - they freak out and immediately jump out and go carpet surfing.
Therefore .. the only way to get a picture of them is to place a glass lid on the tank - and line up your shot in TOTAL darkness.
Then hope and pray that they are in the viewfinder when you take the shot.
This is the best photo I could get right before my digital camera broke - unfortunately both of them are just out of view. But they're just inches out of view. God I wish you could see them !
Anyways - the offer still stands. $30.00 for the pair ;)
