you need to check your credits bro... MJ wrote alot of his songs on the albums that Quincy Jones coproduced with MJ... the songs that MJ wrote were the chart toppers too...
since when does an artist being covered equal greatness??? i think selling 70+ million copies of a single album pretty much speaks for its self...

I didn't say he didn't write ANY of the songs. I would even say he wrote most but some of the biggest ones were written by others.
As far as covers if his creative ability was so great why aren't others recording his stuff more? I think the comparisons of him to Elvis are spot on to a point. Both were really good entertainers but their staging and persona were a huge part of the attraction. Jackson did have writing ability where Presley didn't but I think without Quincy Jones Jackson would have been just another artist.
Do you think Thriller would have sold nearly the numbers it did without those crazy friggin videos? I mean I REALLY don't like the style of music Jackson did but would sit through a few of his songs just because of the videos. And I aint puttin Jackson down because I don't like the style of music. I don't like Dylan or Stevie Wonder but damn, those are geniuses.

I enjoyed his early music very much
I am going to throw this out there. As the mother of a bi-racial child, I am not 100 percent convinced those are his bio children. Especially as dark as he was as a child.
even bi-racials like maria carry, nicole rittchie, holly berrie still have AA features.

+7 or 8 Cranberry. He wasn't dangling his child over the second story balcony in a threatening manner, it was loving and a sign of the infants trust in his father. A grown man inviting young boys in his bed and paying $2.5 million to a family to avoid litigation isn't perverse, it's "no conviction". M M M MMMMM. I loved the Jackson 5 and MJ's "All Night" album, but I sure won't justify the above. "The most loving thing a man can do is share his bed with a child." That was his words from the Diane Sawyers interview, 'nuf sed.

Most major artists wouldn't do covers of his work because they couldn't sing them in a way where they would be any better, or they would sound like a karioke singer. Same reason why you don't hear many covers of Whitney Houston or Celene Dion songs. Don't redo perfection.
Dylan a genius? Please, I wouldn't put that unintelligible idiot anywhere near the class of Jackson. I grew up during his heyday, and the ONLY song I remember of his is 'Like A Rolling Stone' (or whatever the name of that song was). Stevie? No argument there.
If it weren't for Michael Jackson and his videos, half the artists you see today would be non-existent.

He did have some cool videos. Like I said before it made listening to music I didn't really like enjoyable. Grateful Dead's touch of gray was one of those, couldn't stand the song but if you were watching the video it was pretty cool.

I didn't say I liked her, but she has a 3-octave range and hits notes most females wish they could hit, unlike Dylan who you can't even understand half the time. Anybody can write a tune when their stoned out of their minds. Evident when you consider the One Hit Wonder Quinn The Eskimo a great song. Oh wait Manfred Mann. At least your list is consistent. Almost every person you have listed sang stoned out of their minds at one point in time. Dylan has his place in music history. Sorry, but I grew up listening to him along with the other artists you have listed. I didn't like Dylan then, and I don't like him now. It's all preferential. The whole point I'm making is Michael Jackson had just as big an impact on music history than Dylan, Elvis, the Beatles, or any of the people you have listed above. Him and his brothers aren't in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame for no reason. Over half the people you have listed above don't even have that honor. You want to rate Jackson along with some One Hit Wonder like Manfred Mann.
