One of my horses just had babies!

Thanks for information. I lost 4 of the babies today. I managed to catch a handful of mysis and copepods from my reef tank and added them to the sump. I don't know how long it takes them to breed, but if not for this lot then perhaps there will be plenty of natural food for the next brood.

Day 7, only 16 remaining. All appear to be eating 24 hour old baby brine shrimp (enhanced with Selcon). One problem I found with this set up is that I found at six of the dead babies stuck to the overflow sponge. Not sure if they died because of this or died and then were sucked against the sponge. Yesterday was bad, I came home from work to find that over a dozen had died. I only found one had died today and it was stuck to the sponge. All the rest are swimming all over the place and appear to be eating a lot. Any suggestions on how to improve the overflow problem would be appreciated.

I would try to e-mail the person you got the design from, Dan Underwood, I believe. I'm thinking this could have been something he has had to ajust.
Good Luck. I'm still researching and trying to decide when I'm going to try my first pr.

everyone has mentuoned that overflows and intakes need to be covered with sponge, and maby panty hose, and enough sponge so it's not strong enogu to suck them in.

WHen they get big enough for shipment, I will be highly interested in purchasing 4 of them from you.
Good luck, seems like you are doing great.

Today is day 10 and there are only 13 remaining. All seem to be eating well. I am now feeding them 24 hour brine that have been enhanced with Selcon. For some reason they aren't hitching, but hovering in the corner of their aquarium at night. I have added several hitching spots throughout the tank but all seem to prefer just swimming around.

Here's a short movie of a couple of the babies at chow time. It is quite a large file so it may take some time to down load. As you can see they have quite an appetite.
