If you look at dollars and cents, the top 50% of Wage Earners pay over 96% of the taxes. I don't think that those 50% of people make 96% of the income in the US.
It is taking one example and implying that this is the way it works for everyone. Sure their are ways to avoid alot of taxes. And you can pay alot less if the bulk of your earning is from investments ect, and not a paycheck every month. But most of these tax breaks are avaliable to everyone not just oprah

i agree with that 150% had i been the one , i would have built more modestly and placed them far apart so more children could have the same opportunity, and so far as the original question its her money she can do what she wants with it but i ,myself would be more apt to help locally first

I love it when people complain about the good deeds done by another when these deeds eclipse anything they will ever do. Kids are kids regardless of the country and helping young people is a great thing.
Also, I think kids in the states have sooo much more going for them then kids in developing/3rd world countries and shame on them for not taking advantage of all the opportunties given to them. I rather dislike Oprah but I will never critisize anyone for giving to those less fortunate.
