How about against my merely $8g bike? :) Regardless of how powerful a car is, they just can't hang and be able to handle! Excluding a few 1/4 million dollar models.
Sadly, theres only one person making a decent sport bike in america. With such a small production that its basically collectors only :( Guess I have to go jap on that one.

yeah i know. I didnt plan on any "upgrades" lol. I see those little cars with all the body kits and altezza lights, and i just laugh. its a waste of money. Besides why mess up a brand new 2004 car?

IMO aarone, all of these ricey cars lately are junk. Not worth looking at. They are slapped together with overpriced "performance" parts to get the rich kids to hound daddy for one.(Not saying your a rick kid hounding daddy).
If you want a well built(from what I've been reading), look into a Mazda 3 GT. It's the newest car from Mazda set to replace the Protege. Looks like a very nice full loaded 160hp 4 cyclinder for under 20k.
I know I'll be buying one in a couple of years time when my current lease expires.

LoL so true.
People around here think they are driving a McLaren the way they speed around town. One example I saw recently was a Saturn SL-1 lined up next to a 5.0 mustang. The guy in the saturn starting revving his noise can exhaust to get the guy in the mustang to drag him.
Needless to say, the 5.0 was at the next set of lights before the Saturn got into second gear.

Fords arent made well and my local Ford dealer has a horrible service department.
So... next car... another krautie.
You would think the american car manufacuters would get the point and figure out why people would rather have Euro or asian cars.
The Japanese car worker.... works hard and has pride in quality of his work.
The American car worker... wants to know when the next union meeting is.
The Japanese car worker... is looking forward to moving up the company ladder.
The American car worker... looking forward to a budweiser at 5pm.
I am sure to get hammered for this one, but it is just my opinion.

Kipass,
Not going to hammer you, but I just don't see your comparison of workers. What makes you make that comparisson?
I agree, I don't understand why american executives don't seem to realize why people often prefer euro or japanese autos.
Nicky1.8t,
That performance difference is almost marginal... though both of our bikes pale compared to the 04 CBR and R1!!! Man, I wish I could take on another bike payment, two's enough for now though.

These topics are always interesting to get in to. Cars are something most everyone has a passionate opinion on. Guess I'll add my two cents.
I recently had a Ford Mustang GT. Nice car, went fast, rattled quite a bit inside, got crappy gas mileage and had no trunk space to speak of. Pain in the butt to park too with those long doors. Plus, everywhere you looked, there were a bunch of them just like mine.
I sold it to buy my current car, a VW GTI. Nice car also, very quick, very good gas mileage, lots of room, and an absolute kick in the pants to drive. Easier to park too and a lot more scarce on the road.
I've has good American vehicles and bad ones, same with the imports. I caught some flack about it at work, but it all comes down to this.
Its your car, drive what you like...

the comparison of workers is as close a your nearest McDonalds, Wal-Mart, AND manufacturing plant. I work for a company that most of you hold near and dear to your heart and coolers. Most people don't take any care/pride in what they do. Want the most for the least amount in return. (I say some people, not all) A friend of mine is a very well respected franchisee (sp)
of a McDonalds here and the stories he tells us would curl your hair when it comes to the people they hire/fire. he said to get anyone to do anything is next to impossible. Saturday and Sundays are a nightmare because a lot of people call in or just plain don't show up.
The foreign trade trap/gap is a whole 'nother ball of wax, but I won't start a rant on that.

Nissan's are great cars - I currently have a Ford (and hate it) and am getting ready to trade it on a nissan altima - I have had two Nissans (a Sentra and a pickup truck) both cars lasted well over 100k miles, never did any maintainence except for normal stuff, never had a problem with either car, and sold each one for a pretty good price.
Personally I think the big 3 American carmakers have had over 10 years to improve the quality of their cars (not trucks not SUVs) they all saw the Japanese carmakers taking that section of the market. Besides buying American when it comes to a car is really a pointless argument - you buying American vs import, makes no difference any more since the majority of big american car companies have financial interests in import car companies - you really want to create more jobs for America - start buying locally - stop shopping at Safeway and go to a local grocer, don't eat at "corporate" resturaunts, instead of going to Home Depot go to a local hardware store - sure these places offer jobs but the jobs come and go at the CEO's whim and value of his stock - local companies create local growth which means sustained economic viability for your community. Buying an American car that had its parts built in {insert 3rd world country that labor is cheap in - remember NAFTA??} does no good in helping our economy recover, despite what anyone may try to make you believe.
End rant :)

I second the Mazda 3. It's built on the next generation Ford Focus platform which will also be used in the new Volvo S40 due next year. These cars will have nice power and superb handling. Like Azonic, I'm looking forward to all of the cars on this platform, and I'll also be looking at the Saab 9-2 when that comes out next summer. A Subaru WRX wagon with Saab refinement!

To those who "buy American"...
Take out all the parts not made in America an see if your car still runs.

I bought a new truck on Sat. A Ford. I like the Idea of buying an American vehicle(atleast in Name) I just don't know between manufacturing and assembly if "foriegn" cars may use just as many american man hours to build. To the original post everybody I know who has a nissan has been happy with it. DRiving a new car is fun.

If you want to "Buy American"...Buy a USED car...doesn't matter where it was originally built...That moneys gone anyway.
If you "Buy used" (even 6mo.-1 yr.old demo/lease return) the money goes to an American seller who will them spend the money in America, spreading it to other Americans...and so on stimulating the "American" economy.
And don't forget to support your LFS...(who gets your fish from "overseas")... ;)
