All - I know that there have been a lot of 9/11 shows/tributes/reembrances on TV and such today - but as you read this take a moment of silence to remember those that were lost and those that they left behind. Especially all of the children who are now missing a parent.
Thank you.

god bless the souls. Still feel like it happend yesterday.
not get upset about this comment. i feel like Bush did his best, but democrat's debate the otherday makes me wonder if they even care about any at all just like Clinton.
BTW don't throw any blames on me for the comment. not making this as political.

SPSfreal - the link you gave has a nice memorial but the bouncing "shoot the target" ad along the side....what were they thinking??????
I'll never forget that day. My husband woke me up and I watched as the second plane hit. I knew immediately it was terrorism and I just kept repeating to my husband "our children are going to war" I prayed especially long and hard this morning for the people who lives were irrevocably changed on that morning by either their personal involvement or their loss of loved ones. I prayed for our military and their families who are still fighting to lessen the threat of something like that ever happening again. And I thanked God with all my being for bringing my sons, who are Marines, home safe from the war so that they could rejoin their wifes and children.

I think everyone, everywhere, remembers exactly what they were doing when it happened- I was in calss and it came over the announcments i rembery saying to one of the exchange students-
"That was a national landmark, filled with people- This wont sight lightly- we will be going to war because of it"

I missed this post yesterday, but I was hoping someone would put something up. God rest the victims and God bless the survivors and the ones left behind. On another sad note, one of my favorite actors died yesterday. John Ritter. Apparently it was a unknown heart problem. God rest his soul.:(

I lost 5 friends 4 were fellow firefighters and 1 was NYPD. All in all is very rough time of year for me. I was in at ground zero 3 hours after it happened and worked on recovery for months. Its nice to see all the thoughts and prayers. We are dedicating a memorial park Sunday to all our fallen firefighters and thie families. Now some happy stuff I posted some cool pics of my tank in photog section.

Missed this yesterday..... I remember sitting in my room when my sister came in and said that something bad was happening..... me n my sibs all had to get our coats in case they hit the empire state building.... was a very sad day and I remember my mom saying my uncle might be dead and crying with relief when I found out he wasn't......:(
May they rest in peace......

I was chatting on the net with the wife of a bank president that works in downtown Manhattan. She was very emotional cause her husbands bank was next to the towers and Her husbands brother worked on the 82nd floor of one of the towers. I tried to calm her as much as I could. But, nobody knew what was going on. Planes were crashing all over.
What the hell is Gray Davis (D) doing in California? Giving illegals a pass with a DR license. Stupid!
Keep America free! Vote Republican. We will get the job done.
God bless our troops and Vets

I think we've all got our own political opinions. I say we keep them to ourselves when we're on a friggin' fish board.

i was in my room, probably posting on this site, when my roomates came into th eroom and said we were being attacked......these guys were the joking type so i thought nothign of it, then i wlaked out into the living room and everyone was huddled around the tele as the second plane hit the two towers.....may all that have perished find themselves in a better place, and may we respect those who are working in other countries to keep america free!!!!
good luck

I was transporting a trailer full of horses that morning when the first plane hit. I pulled into a neighboring farm to get to a TV in time to see the second plane hit. We had JUST left New York one week prior where we had enjoyed our usual dinner and sightseeing tour atop the World Trade Center. Hard to imagine it is all gone. I have been there twice since then and it is eerie and haunting. It feels very much like visiting at Wounded Knee where one can be still and hear the cries of many.
My youngest daughter was camping in Pennsylvania not far from where the plane went down. She heard a huge noise but had no idea what had happened until her sister showed up in tears to bring her home.
There is a song on the country station my horses listen to sung by someone I'm not sure of called something like "have you forgotten". Wish I knew who wrote and sings that song. It brings tears to my eyes and shivers down my back each time I hear it. None of us will EVER forget the horrible tragedies that day. It is etched in our minds and in our hearts forever.

"Have You Forgotten" is by Darryl Worley (not sure of spelling). There is also one by Allan Jackson (Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning?). And a lot of videos were re-filmed to the honor of our troops, especially Lonestar's "I'm Already There".

On 9/11/01 I was on the road from my home in SE Connecticut to Norwalk, listening to the radio in my van when the morning DJ announced that a plane had hit one of the WTC towers and they'd be going to an NBC news team. They played a song and then he came in and announced they were going to the news team because another plane had hit the second tower....
I was at a trading house in Greenwich yesterday and they had a nice tribute to some people they'd known who'd died in 9/11. My wife works with a lady who lost a son in the WTC. This lady decided to take a vacation to an 'undisclosed location'during the remembrance to avoid being hounded by the press.
We shouldn't forget, not ever; but we should respect those who lost someone on 9/11/01 and demand the same from the press.
As for politics...let's just make sure we're not so blinded by patriotism and fear that we let people get something over on us.

offshore80 that is totally inappropriate! :( :( :( :(
I was busy trying to help arrange the evacuation of a call center which was in the direct flight path of the last plane that was intentionally crashed in Pittsburgh. Sitting in KC trying to get people out of a building in Washington DC who had no where to go (the roads were like a parking lot) left me feeling very impotent. I am very thankful to all those on that flight that made it flame out early!

Just another thing to think about while the 911 incident is being remembered.
Soon the Congress will debate the Patroit Act II. Although Civil Liberties is not something that many of us think about very often, maybe we should also be aware of what has happened as a result of 911. One should ask the question as to whether or not the people who died on that tragic day would want to see their families rights and civil liberties be restricted as a result of what happened that day. Many of those who died were of MIddle Eastern decent.
For example... There are US citizens being held w/o the right to counsel or if they are given that right the US Dist. Att. can monitor the cofidential communications exchanged. Also little did you know that everything you get at the library is being watched by BIG BROTHER. In addition, thousands of US att. have been able to get wiretaps and pen registers on a showing of much less than probable cause. On Monday I went to a symposium on Civil Rights and Ethics, which focused on Rights and responsibilities of criminal attorneys after 911. Let me tell you, its really scary the things that the government can do now that it could not traditionally do before 911.
For those of you who say well thats the price of being safe and secure after 911. IN MY OWN OPINION give me liberty or give me death. This county has made mistakes like this before. The internment of the Japanese, Lincoln suspending habeus corpus during the civil war, the Macarthy Hearings during the 1950's. This country is no stranger to the mistakes of the past and quick swift actions without a consideration to the ramifications of the decision will lead, as it has always done, to big mistakes. If I had died on that day I would be appalled at the actions taken our governement has taken thus far.
Just something to think about...
