I'm not sure, do you have the tang in QT? Copper can't be used with corals or other inverts; or even LR. Just my opinion, but you might want to find some good pics and descriptions of SW Ich. I'm convinced that many of the folks who report success in curing ch with diet, garlic, etc., are not dealing with true SW ich
I do have a QT but it is too small for my blue tang who is about 6 inches long. My QT is only a 10 gallon. Right now he is acting normal and eating really good. So I am just going to keep my eye on him. I tried to take a picture of him but the pictures dont pick up the spots that I can see.

His actions will tell you a lot too; almost all fish with ich scratch a lot on rock, etc. Their appetite drops off and respiration becomes difficult, the ich bugs love the gills. Also, because ich spreads so fast, other fish will usually show some signs. the parasite uselessly appears first on the fins of newly infected fish. If this ich; you may be stuck with one of the "reef-safe_ meds...it just might work. BTW---I'd post this in the disease section of the forum; some real fish health experts hang out there.

IMO & IME: only copper or hypo will always cure ich. There are many products that have come and gone, but until I hear a lot of glowing reports about one, I'll stick to my original opinion. Some other methods may work sometimes, but I think they just control ich for a while and any stress will bring another out break. Here's some vital reading.https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/127007/faqs-fish-diseases-treatments-quarantine-health-info
BTW; no medication can give a fish ich. Ich is a parasite and its either in the tank or it isn't.
I heard about this miracle magnetic water conditioner... Wont that cure ick..

You know I'm ust kidding right?

........maybe that's why I haven't seen ich, or any other parasites since I started using these things. I don't use one in QT. I guess that's why i still use copper and a de-wormer there.
