i think he means no need for one on a nano reef. larger reefs need one. but as stated earlier my size tank and other nanos alike dont need one. just regular water changes

I saw an established 240gallon sps tank this weekend with lots of fish... no skimmer.. had plenty of liverock, flow, 100 gallon fuge, carbon reactor, phosban reactor. It had been running for years.
Remember skimmers pull good and bad things out.

Yes.Live rock is key.I did jump the gun on that post sorry.But skimmers do great things when ran.If you run a fuge carbon and phos ban you prob wont need a skimmer.
 
yeah it all depends on the circumstances i think, if you have an over stocked nano and you overfeed you might want a skimmer. I have also seen small tanks with skimmers when they werent overstocked. Its kinda overkill but i dont really see it hurting the tank even though what rotary said its pulling good and bad out

so i got the final list of what im getting when my friend comes down from indiana. im getting a nice rock of hairy mushrooms. a couple nice rocks of zoas and a monti frag!!! not sure what kind of all those but i will find out soon!!!
the mushroom and zoa rocks are like 3x4 inch rocks!

so looks like i need to make some long checklist of things to throw in that tank. you better save that money up cause i got big plans. haha
