Peppermint Shrimp dead...Could it be the Emerald??

I just highly doubt an emerald crab taking down a shrimp, death could just be natural -- how long have you had it?

I will disagree I have personally seen and emerald crab kill and eat everything on a cleaner shrimp except the head. My friend added a cleaner shrimp and I watched the crab come out of it's hole he lives in and grab the shrimp and rip it in 2 and eat it.
Now with that being said I have heard of people never having a problem with them. I think maybe it just wasn't fed enough. But in my opinion don't rule the emerald crab out it is very possible that he is the suspect. Just my .02.
Any one else feel free to give there opinions.

There is an Emerald look alike. If you still have the crab check to make sure there's a red dot on the inside of the claw arms at the "elbow". Another tell is that Emerald Crabs are usually on the rock foraging while the look-alikes are more skiddish and stay in the recesses of the rocks.
That said, even the real Emeralds are not perfectly safe. They are omnivires and will eat what they can when there's insufficient food. The larger they are, the more likely they are to run out of food and go hunting.

it wasnt a molt i am absolutly sure of that because they have molted before and that wasnt what it was. i have had this shrimp for a bout 4 months and the crab for about 2-3. the crab is about 3/4-1 inch big and i am pretty sure that he is a real emerald because he is always on the rocks and only gets off if he wants to search for some food.
