I just got my first 2 False Percula Clowns today. I am so happy:joy: :joy: :D
:jumping: :cheer: !!! As soon as I put them in, the kinda looked around for a sec and then they went to the bottom left corner of the tank. It looks like they r swimming in place. They haven't moved for 8 hrs. It also looks like they r trying to swim but they r just staying in the same spot. At the LFS they were swimming all around the tank. I Acclimated them right. I floated them or 30 min. and put a cupful of water in, waited 15 minutes and did this over an hour time period. If this normal or is something wrong with them?:help:

Thanx. I got frustrated, because I wanted to see my fish swim. Would a diet of pellet, flake, and frozen brine shrimp be ok? Should I feed a little bit of both during feeding or have specific days to feed flake and pellet and shrimp. Do I give them the most they can eat in5 minutes? Thanks for ur help.

another way you could have done it was drip acclimate them. by useing a bucket and airline tubing. i just did it for my pajama cardinal and he was happy as a clam within 10 min. of putting him in the tank

So feed them flake in the moring, as much as they can eat in five minutes and the same for the evening only with pellet. and once a week feed them shrimp in the moring only? A little confusing. Do I feed my brittle star twice a week, say 3 pellets a feeding? Will my hermits be ok feed ing off the rock? Just say one big yes or one fat NO. Thanx:)

My clowns will only eat frozen food. They like shrimp, and sally's frozen saltwater selection (multi pack). They are 4 months old and very small. They wont eat the cyclopeez I bought them. But they eat this frozen food like little piggys. they eat pieces that are bigger then them. It is so funny. I will have to take some pix at dinner time tonight.

Does the Brittle Star attack clown fish? I'm just wondeirng why you were asking if they are supposed to be food for the star? I have two Brittle Stars in my tank. My two clown fish have been fine, the Stars haven't bothered them. All my fish have been fine, except for the disappearance of two green chromis. Is the Brittle Star one to usually attack live fish? Could that be what happened to my chromis?

I asked the same question about my brittle star and was told they CAN attack a fish. I personally have NOT had any trouble losing fish in a year. However this week a shrimp disappeared but I highly doubt that my greenie ate him!!

I would definately have the Brittle at the top of the suspect list.
Your Clowns have probably adopted that particular corner. I would not expect them to be seen swimming all over the tank except at feeding time.

I fed them twice today and they really didn't eat. Maybe the peiecs were 2 big. My brittle doesn't bother them. I saw him get out of his cave slowly and when he touched one of the clowns he just moved very slowly under them. These clowns aren't real small they r about 2 inches already and I have a smal brittle. If I were 2 acclimate using the drip method would they move? I just want to see them move around they've been there Swimming in place or trying to swim for 28 hours strait. I even came down at 3 in the morning to see if they were alseep or had moved, but no, they were still swimming in place. Thanx and plz answer ?s:)

I just got my 2 last night. In the store they were all swimming like crazy. I asked the dude to feed them to see which 2 to get. When I got home I acclimated them in a similar manner to you. Float for 30 min. and then pour in a bit of tank water every 10-15 minutes. Did this for 1.5 hrs.
After I let them out, they swam a lot together. I tried to feed them (pellets) a little to see if they would eat. They made a small attempt to nibble but nothing like in the store.
Later than night I went down to check on them and they were together swimming in place. They looked ok, not too stressed. This morning they were not together anymore and one was acting like yours, just swimming in place in one spot near the sand. The other one was more mobile.
In the evening I fed them pelettes again and they didn't eat. I started to get a bit concerned. After I turned off their light I saw them start to swim again! I hope they are more active tomorrow.
Is this normal?

I have two new clowns. I woke up the next morning and thought that they were dead. They were laying on there sides on a chunk of hair algea attached to my water return. Then next day laying on a piece of rock. Now they love my powerhead. They lay on top of it everynight. I find my clowns swimming in place alot. They are so cute, they are always together. I am going to get them some mushrooms. I think that they are looking for something to host in. So I am going to get them something better then a powerhead.

I just got a clown yesterday. He swims around in small circles close to the corner of my tank. I tried to feed him flakes but he doesn't even pay attention to them while my damsel (who I haven't seen attack him in anyway) swims quickly all over my tank and eats everything that starts falling in the water.

What are you feeding? My clowns wont eat pellets. They like frozen food. I feed them sallys saltwater selection, the multi selection. My fish are very small, and they gobble this up like they are one of the big fish. Keep an eye on that damsel. Maybe your clownfish needs a friend.

My clown did not do much the first couple of days that I had him. After a few days he adopted the anemone that I put in there for him. Now he stays in the anemone and hardly ever comes out. When I feed him he come out maybe a few inches from the anemone and then takes some back to the anemone to feed it, then he goes back out and gets some for himself. It's neat to watch. I pour in the food right over the anemone to make sure the clown gets some before the other fish eat it all. If there is some food floating around he won't get it if it's too far from his anemone.

Omega One Marine Flakes is the food I have. Should I maybe get another clownfish in there for him to have a friend, or something else? I would like to get a anemone but I only have the default lights that came with the hood on my all glass aquarium. Could I just add better bulbs, or do I need all new fixtures and everything?
