I recently had one of my pair of perculas(aquacultures false) die. It was almost 3 yrs they were the first fish into my tank. My question is is it a good idea to try to repait the survivor with a new clown or will it be heart broken i am unsure of this. also if i can should i get a percula or is there another type of clown that would pait with my percula. the reson i ask is that i have seen a couple other species of clown that have caught my eye and i was wodering what i can do. I dont like seeing my poor clown all by it's lonsome and would love to get it another mate if its at all feasable. Also it is about 1-1.5 inches long what would be the right size to get as well. thanks

Clownfish are very hardy so something would have to be seriously wrong for one to die.
Have you tested all of your water parameters? Did the fish show any sign of disease?
As far as getting another, I'm confused a little, it is an Ocellaris or is it a Percula? Your best chance of success would be to get a very small fish of the same species, which every one you have.
I would wait a while in case there's a problem. Try to identify & fix if it's in your control.

They are ocellaris clown fish. It started swimming at the top of the tank. One of my friends that has been doing saltwater for about 10yrs said it might be the swim bladder. I did check my parameters all was well except the calcium which i have been striving to bring back into normal ranges. MY blue hippo tang is doing well and my lawnmower blenny is doing well also. I have read that hippo tangs are more apt to get sick when water quality is bad before clowns is this correct or am i off the deep end
thanks.

I would expect a Hippo to start suffering long before a Clownfish if it were water quality problems. It could be an internal disease or maybe it received an injury. I doubt you will ever be able to solve the mystery.

Yeah thats what my friend told me as well. we suspect that it was something internal that i nor he could diagnose. It has been about three weeks and my hippo is doing great as well as the other two fish i have in the tank
thanks though.
