Also try covering your powerheads with a filter sock, should have minimal head loss, but may help in clearing up your water, the socks are only like 2-3$ i think.

Update: Day 6 of no lights in tank and I am AMAZED. Who would have thought something so simple (not to mention, free) would make such a difference. Here is a picture my tank yesterday.
Now I have to wonder: What was the cause, and what can I do in the future to prevent this? Knowing how to fix it is fantastic, but I sure missed looking in my tank for a week!!
