depending on what you have in there, the ideal range is 8.2 but anywhere from 8.0-8.4 is good

ok i am not a member of tang police, if i were youd be in trouble, 60lbs of LR is good, but that yellow is going to grow fast and is too big for that tank....there are loads of people that will flame you for this, there is good reason behind it, that fish needs a minimum of 6 feet of swimming space, i assume that you plan to upgrade to a larger tank within the next year? if so minimum of 125 for tangs, but it is your hobby do what you will...those 3 stripes behaving themselves? i am sure the royal can hold his own but there might be a time where you will have a territory dispute with the damsels, trust me especially the 3 stripes, those are bad dudes...but 60lbs of LR is great keep it up, what is your PH at now? i guess to get a feel for your interest...

I just got this tank from a friend of mine. I might not put the 3 stripes back in there and he told me that the royal gramma will beat any other fish up. I want to buy my own fish and I do not want it to kill them. What should I do?
Also have some mushrooms and looking to get some soft corals!
PH level is 8.4

Your PH level is just fine. You've got a yellow tang and 3 damsels, who is he going to beat up? Those fish can hold their grounds. Here's my personal thought, as long as it's a smaller sized tang, it should be fine for now. I've got a tang in my 55, but I have intention on getting a 125+ gallon tank by spring for them though. As long as your willing to upgrade down the road, the yellow tang will be fine!!! :happyfish

If you going to get into corals, you better read some threads about it. Since you just moved the tank, you might of disrupted the system, better wait a bit. Another thing is lighting, it is important for corals!!!! I know when we moved our tank, it disrupted the whole system and we had to wait a bit cause the tanks recycled again for some reason. We did kept all the water, but the previous owner had it pretty dirty and we had to clean all that crap up. Plus salinity was very high and we had to lower it. Anyway, read up on it before you start!

The person that I got the tank from said that the Royal Gramma tends to pick on new fish that he puts in the tank and eventually kills them. Should I get rid of him because I am wanting to get a Coral Beauty and a couple engineer gobies. :happyfish
