OK...I have a Phosban Reactor 550.....Does anyone have a pic/video of their reactor working....what I am looking for is to see how much the GFO granules are moving....
I know it says that they should barely tumble...BUT it doesn't seem like they are doing anything that way

and what is barely
...2 grains moving...LOL....or the top layer

I just want to make sure it is doing what I bought it for

I don't think the whole thing should tumble......I think just the top portion should be slowly tumbling......

I'll try to get my husband to take a video of ours and post it up for you. I'm positive ours is running correctly because our phosphate is at 0 and wasn't before adding it. We're running the 150 and have a Rio +50 running ours.
What pump are you using to run it?

What does teed mean?? I have mine just moving the top layer. It doesnt move it all at once. It just seems to allow the water to perk through the top layer and that happens in different spots. If you make it tumble to hard it will casue small particles and cloud the water. Dont have a video but it sounds like you had it set pretty good.

I hear you Meowzer.....I'm in agreement with Gillagain68's statement......I tried cranking mine, and it does go crazy, and even when you run something like RowaPhos it will make a mess in the tank with it cranked....You just want to barely see the top moving.....

LOL....The directions say to turn it up once a week to "stir" stuff up for a minute.....I just want to make sure I am running it right....otherwise...it's worthless....I still have the phosphates at .25 with Salifert....IDK what else to do....:(

What were you reading before employing it? Are you running any type of mechanical filtration?
LOL...I was reading 10 on my API kit..
.....I use chemipure elite in my cascade 1500.....that's about it....I throw a phospure pad in my sump tray here and there

Have you tried putting phoslock or something similar in the Cascade?
I know Purigen doesn't actually claim to lower phosphates, but many have cited that they see a difference when using it. You might want to look into it a little, it's not that expensive either.

Just a thought, I know you use vitamins.
I've noticed that if I put VitaChem (which I think you mentioned that you do as well), that my phosphates had a higher reading....

I just happen to have a brand new bottle of Purigen....do you think I should put it in the canister???
ALSO..YES...I do use Vita-chem...every other day....I kinda use the vitamins like this
Sun...GVH fish food soak, selcon, vitachem
Mon...Garlic guard, zoe, zoecon
Tues...GVH fish food soak, selcon, vitachem
Weds.garlic guard, zoe, zoecon
Thurs, GVH fish food soak, selcon, vitachem
FRI, garlic guard, zoe, zoecon
SAT. Garlic guard, selcon, vita chem
That's a pretty good example of my vitamin soaking schedule

It might be worth giving it a shot?

As for the VitaChem, if all your fish are healthy, cut out the vitachem for a week or two and just do the zoecon or selcon as you are using it and see if you can rule that out. A few weeks without vitachem isn't going to do harm to your tank, but it MIGHT (and I don't know that this is the issue, but worth a shot) be doing harm to the tank as a whole.

YES, I use the ones that come inside a packet already and it's basically pantyhose. Just rinse it before you add it to the tank. I hope this all helps! Keeping my fingers crossed for you! I've just been through hell with nitrates, alkalinity and pH in my tank, switched salt brands and literally overnight they all changed
Sometimes this hobby is so frustration
