Phosban Reactor HELP

IME there should not be any "tumbling."
Tumbling of the media leads to friction, which causes the particles to dissolve into the water column, which is very bad.
In a reactor, if it's operating properly, when looking at the top of the media, you should see the very top particles "dancing" just slightly. The dancing should be consistent across the entire surface of the media mass. The main mass of media should remain still.

OK....the main part is still....the whole top is dancing..LOL...If I turn it down, only one section of the top..dances.....
so...I need the flow to be enough for all TOP ONLY particles to move...not part of the top...and NOT any of the main mass

Correct. When you turn down the flow enough, the water just finds it's way through the easiest path causing what you are seeing. It should be just sufficient to cause activity across the whole top.

How do you know your tank needs them? Overdose.....What happens if you pollute your body of "vitamins" your body can only absorb so much of anything and what happens to the rest? It's removed as waste or settles out as waste.....I guarantee if you look around at the really spectacular tanks and look at their regimen, I'm pretty sure, they don't have a list of that.....I understand every system is totally different, but there are some key ingredients, and a good food mix is better than supplemental "vitamins" your adding, that you don't really know if they are doing any good, or really needed.

OK....I don't have a clue how to tell if they need them
I just thought they were good for their overall health
I'll cut them out then :(
