Here's a photo of my Emperor Angel back in March when I first acquired him from a fellow reefer who had to part with him. In the photo, he's in my refugium...he was moved into the main tank in May.
I tested his appetite for corals for about a month while he was in the refugium. The only coral that he seemed to like was my scolymia....so, he went into the main tank and the scolymia went into the refugium. He has yet to bother anything else including several clams that are in the main tank. I do keep him well fed and he is hand tame....so, he will be easy to catch if his interest in corals changes in the future.
steveweast,
Thats a very nice fish. I've been thinking about changing my 240 into a reef, but I want a large angel as well. Interesting to see a large angel in a reef.
Thanks all for the kind words. I really do feel fortunate so far. He is certainly my favorite fish...and is a centerpiece unto himself. I only hope that his special status won't embolden him to munch on anything and everything. I did take the precaution to test him for a month...but, he could change his preferences in the future....at least he is easily lured to the surface for easy removal...hope that sad day will never come. Here is one last photo of him... swimming down a large open alley that I've recently created (I'm trying to open up the aquascaping).
Whao!
That is an awesome Emperor and Tank. I'm very impressed!
What size was he when you got him? He looks very small to have that much transformation.
