Very nice...be careful with used sand though
Use new sand! You're asking for trouble with used sand, especially with it being moved and stirring things up....
You can buy new sand that doesn't need to be cycled, it's a much safer idea.

Okay, what is the technical reasons for not using used sand?
You don't know what garbage is in there...and stirring releases a lot of stuff.....I have read a lot of this....you can re-use...BUT BUT BUT it is strongly suggested that you RINSE RINSE RINSE VERY WELL
new sand is cheap as hell. If the filtration isnt coming with the tank and you are buying all new filtration the tank will probably start a cycle anyway. Just start from stratch and you will be happier.
yehh if you buy just normal sand, doesnt have to be live sand, just like coral sand or something, because if your gettin new filtration systems its pointless to run the risk of using the old sand for just an extra, $100 or so?
also, wat lighting unit is that?
looks very dimm, might need to up it abit?
or is it just the actinics on there?

Beautiful tank. =) I love canopies, I was hoping I could build one for my 29 gallon someday. Lots of people from ohio on this site, lol.
I grew up in Geauga County in a town called Chardon. U know of it? It's east of cleveland
I strongly agree with Crypt. A sump with a skimmer is a much bettor option than just canister filter. you would have to buy an overflow box since it looks like this tank is not reef ready.

Then what Sump should I get? And do i need to drill holes. I don't want to drill any holes.
do everything on your own. 30g sump and 30g fuge.
I would go out and buy two empty 30 gallon tanks. New they are cheap. I bought mine for $50. Then go to lowes get your plexiglass walls cut to size. The tank is 12 inches wide. Get the Walls cut down to 11 3/4 inches. They will fit right in and snug. a 2'x2' sheet is around $40.
You will need an 1200 gallon return pump or bigger. You can do two HOB overflows which will require no drilling. This is the best way to maitain water qaulity longer and better. Otherwise canister filters need to cleaned and its a pain. a skimmer takes 2 seconds to empty and clean. Twist off the top and boom your done.
