reefkeprZ,...Looks like we have some competition....LOL I agree that the more other people post about fragging, the less of a mystery it becomes.
efish, did you mount any of the frags horizontal? What type of reef putty did you use?

There are some theories that if a coral is broken off the mother colony in the wild, it lands on it's side or horizontal. Other part of the theory is that you'll get more growth as the coral has a larger surface area for new growth to appear as opposed to just a tip. I'm doing a test right now with identical frags, both are .5 and from the same colony, one mounted horizontal and one vertical and I can already see more growth on the one mounted horizontal.

i've also heard that if you take the frag, and slice it length-wise, so you then have 2, then mount them horizontal, you will have 2x the surface area. i think that i heard this from a borneman video, or article, or thread.

It has been close to 24hrs since fragging
. As you can see from these pics they have great polyp extension and are actively feeding already
.
This Wild Harvest Bright Pink Millipora from Jakarta (I could not pass this one up and I do my best to buy and collect only aquacultuered corals)
is one of the the fastest growing sps in my tank
....Is anyone else getting this type of growth. I would say its growth is almost an 1" per month. The frags and mother colony act like nothing has happened.

Aquacultuered is the way to go!!!!!!!Sooo Happy and Healthy!!!!!

I hope this thread will help someone do the same and save what we can of our reefs!!!![/B]

Thanks, Maxalmon and reefkpzr.... I hope someone will get some much needed insight about how easy it is to frag your own sps corals.
