that is my Son Cody who is 7 years old and weighs all of 37 lbs. He keeps begging for an eel but I told him we are not ready and not sure it will work in tank yet.
also I am playing with new Digital Camera. so I had to drop pics to almost 75% of size to fit upload criteria here :)

looking good man. Are you going FOWLR or are you going to try and do a reef setup? If you are doing the Reef may look into finding some older tanks in the area that have been up for awhile and see about getting some good cured lr. I bought a 135 with corals and all for 1000 and sold the tank and lighting for 500. I have about 175 to 200 lbs of rock. And a ton of cool corals. In the time being you could check LFS for good cured Rock we have one here that puts LR in their systems and sales it. It's a little more pricey but you get a lot more goodies and benifits from it. Just treat it like a fish when you get it. Take a large tote with aged SW to load it into. Or see if they can give you some of the water they change.

Most Likely FOWLR for right now. I think Reef is way out of my League at this point in time. So far I have had good luck with the Damsels and the one Puffer that I had (Except I had to take puffer back after 2 weeks because he was Slowly decimating my Hermit Crabs and Snails) I just added a lawnmower Blenny to help with Algae Problem that was almost cleared up until puffer ate most of cleaning crew.
I keep buying Live rock as I can afford it. Sometimes I feel ike this hobby is sucking the life out of me and my bank account.
You know it is bad when I cry because I don't have the right heater for the Trash can with the salt water Mixed in it. boyfriend I think is sorry he bought set up sometimes. :)
But I keep Learning as I go. Just kinda frustrating at times.
Oh Yeah I tried to buy LR form LFS Store Tanks but he said something about having to dose the tank a long time ago and would not feel comfortable selling me rock from tank. This is the Only LFS within 1 hour from me unless you count ***** but they just built store and tanks are probably younger than mine. I might try buying some fish online after It has been awhile Like over 6 months.

cool I know what you mean about sticker shock on LR it's crazy expensive in most places. I have seen it for 2.50 a pound on some websites though. I can't even think about the money we spend. I just look at this way. Me and my boys 2years and 9 months old as well as my wife enjoy the tanks more than our 52 inch bigscreen. I spend way more time working on fish tanks than my 67 Mustang. LOL So I figure
I enjoy this the most att I will do what I can to make me happy and my wfe and Kids enjoy doing it with me. If all goes well my boys will have a in depth knowledge of the Marine world by the time they are 5 lol.
Good luck and stick with it you will be glad you did. Read books about this hobby and you are already digging for info which is very good. You can get away in a FOWLR with the amount of rock you have if you have a good wet dry or some other type of biological filtration. I am a huge emporrer 400 supporter. Also a good skimmer goes a long way. Get some goos fake corals they also provide good nooks and crannies for bacteria. Try and find some old dead one even. MY LFS has a dead birdsnest I am thinking about getting for my sons Nemo tank. It will look real nice with some coraline alge on it. Have fun and stay patient you will need to.

I have the biggest emporor HOB on it right now. I forgot what one that is. I bought some texas rock (white with lots of holes but I figures it would seed from the LR).
I am currently researching Aqua remora C skimmer but that may not be bought until next year as I think I will have to pick up some extra shifts at work LOL.
I am going to catch most of the Damsels to take back to store so that I can get something else and I dont have to worry about them harrassing it. I can;t seem to spell tonight so please forgive me.
BF keeps wanting a Tang I keep saying NOOOOO too hard to keep for me still. LFS suggested fireFish I was looking at a tomato clown but Am worried he may not be able to make it without Anemone.
We will see

Looking good. If you do a web search on base rock, its a lot cheaper then live rock, and the live rock you already have will seed the base rock. Also, if your son wants an eel, look into getting a enginer goby. They kinda look lke an eel when they get big.

I am looking at the hawian base for my 150. I am going to soak it in the water i take out from water changes for a few weeks
also looking at this
Honeycomb Base Rock 50lb
Honeycomb Base Rock is calcium carbonate base rock, pure and clean. It is the official base rock for aquaculture. It provides plenty of holes for fish to live in.
honeycomb$54.99
not a bad price for 50 lbs

engeneer gobies are cool I had one for about 3 1/2 yrs till I introduced a niger trigger to the tank and it ate him ok half of him ,he later died from lack of body parts.if your just fowlr and decide to get a lion fish just leave the damsels and the lion will take care of them after time much easier than catching them lol.course it took my lion almost 4 yrs to finelly eat mine.
