Pineapple Sponges

They are all over the sump, and a few have started to appear in the main tank. They have been there for over a month in the sump, and was wondering if there was anything that would eat them if they get too out of control in the main tank?

This is rarely a problem. Like small feather dusters and various worms, these things tend to 'bloom' and die off based on the availability of nutrients. Is your tank relatively young? Really, I do not suggest finding and animal to eat them. 1) I don't think there really are any and 2) they may die off before you find what will. No worries :)

The tank is just over a year old. I didnt start noticing them until I started using Reef vital DNA and coral vital. After I started using those 2 products, the coralline algae started taking off big time, as well as the feather duster and pineapple sponge population.
Im not too worried about them at this time, I just wanted to know if there was anything that would take care of the problem if it did not remedy itself.

2 of my lfs's suggested using these products.
Here is what the reef vital DNA says...."reef vital DNA enhances the ability of photosynthetic marine organisms to obtain nutrients from water and utilize light. Promotes growth and provides pigmentation priming of coralline algae, anenomes, mushrooms, sponges, tunicates, feather dusters, and live rock."
And the coral vital....."Coral vital contains all natural aquatic biological enzyme catalysts that tremendously enhance the growth of coralline algae, anenomes, mushrooms, and sponges. It makes coral open up and promotes coral regeneration and reproduction. "
I have definately seen a difference in coralline growth, and like stated earlier, the pineapple sponges started appearing after dosing both of these products. Maybe it was just good timing, but I believe the products helped.

"natural aquatic biological enzyme catalysts"
I detest the mumbo jumbo Marc Weiss puts in his advertising. I think it's deceptive to anyone new to reef tanks already overwhelmed by the magnitude of their new hobby.

I gotta agree with you.
I was commenting on the M. Weiss advertising methods and not at all about the poster. I should have expressed myself much better.
I've added more thoughts to it... is it any better?
Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Guy

After using Coral Vital for a month or so I started seeing Coralline all over the place. Now (about 3 weeks later) it's on my power heads, heater, rocks, snails, Filter..........Needless to say I've been very happy with Coral Vital. And all my softies look great too. Leather growing like mad.

I totally agree with you Bang Guy.....I dont believe half of the crap that is put on the bottle, but I started using it because of the results that several of my LFS's have had. Even thought I dont agree with his sales pitches I do have to say that I have seen a population explosion in feather dusters and my coralline since I have used the product.
BTW, you dont have to say any apologies........I read between the lines and knew that you were talking about MR. Weiss.

I agree totally.......But im not exactly new to reef tanks or new to the fishkeeping hobby at all...:D
