Oh no. Get the tiger! Tigers are great and usually pair up...pistols don't do so great in pairing up.

I was just agreeing with Wolf Man and saying that if you want a shrimp that will form a relationship with a goby, avoid caribean pistols. There are a bunch of different kinds of pistol shrimp but tiger are the most common in the aquarium trade and if you want one to pair with a yellow watchman, that is a good choice.

I think he ment the carribean. Many people have a shrimp goby pistol shrimp combo here. The carribean arent a great choice to match up with a goby. The tiger is a great choice.

Well you guys are making me want to try again but I swore I'd never own another one after mine killed some fish. Leave it to me to have the only psychotic one.

I doubt a shrimp killed your fish. They will readily devour the carcasses of dead fish. Maybe you killed the fish and the shrimp ate them.

Dunno. I had a tiger pistol shrimp in my biocube and every goby I put in there ended up dying within a few weeks. Water parameters were always fine - the shrimp and snails were healthy and thriving. Every fish I put in that tank died so when I tore it down I put the tiger in my seahorse tank where there was a big goby. A few days later, the goby was dead. His dead body had a "bullseye" mark on it - red spot in the center with red circle around it. I caught the tiger shrimp and brought him to the LFS. Things haven't "mysteriously" died since I got rid of him.
