No problem.. we like newbies.
If you look at the forums there are lots of different sections... some posts have a little paperclip symbol which means they've added pictures to the post. USUALLY it's of fish/coral. There is also a section down at the bottom of the list of topics that is nothing but member's photos.
I'll give you a link to my 12 gallon nano cube and you can see how it's progressed.

way to begin......it will definitely help.....just keep an eye around the tank for "dead" spots......you do not want ANY waste to accumulate....

Sounds like nano have this one under control. You may have been hanging on the edge of a crash with number size of fish. Small tanks can only handle so much fish waste based on the surface area for bacteria to flourish. Hit the wall and crash can happen quick. Almost every nano, your a little larger, overseen Hawaii minimal amount of fish. There are plenty of posts on this site that try and help prevent others from having these situations. Do a search or two and I know you will find something to help. I am a bit of a purist and don't use chemicals. If you the right balance of sand rock fish light and macros the tank should be self sustaining. Research first and save money. It's all here on this site and has helped me when I first started. Been a while but stood to have a tank again. Good luck and enjoy the beauty of your next setup.

Has anybody thought there could be an electrical current running through the tank? IMO, no cube is going to cause a large enough spike to kill everything in the tank all of a sudden. I feed 2 cubes worth off mysis in a day 3 times a week between fish and corals in a 10 gallon with 5 gallon sump without any spikes in ammonia or phosphate or nitrate. I do rinse them, but I didn't start out that way, only when I started getting cyano did I start wrinsing them. I would test for stray voltage, or take a cube of the foot to the lfs and ask him to feed it to some fish there.

I do not think it was the food....I think it was a combination of everything....too much livestock, no water movement, maybe too much food....etc....etc...etc....

i honestly dont think it was the 5 fish in the tank that killed it.. they have been in there since january, and i saw on this site someone having a full stock reef 20 gallon, and i counted 6 fish in there, however the tank also had 3 powerheads..

Yep, I have a Stealth that runs about 4 degrees below what it is set at even in a 15 gallon nano, have another that is supposed to shut off at 78 and does not and had another send current into my tank killing all my freshwater koi angels and everything else in the tank for that matter. That has all been in the last couple years, the funny thing is I don't ever remember having a single heater problem back in the old days when I first got into the hobby, of course I do mean old days and my first tank was a stainless framed and hooded 10 gallon with a slate bottom.

hard to beleive she lasted that long without a powehead. What causes surface aggitation? seems like you'd need more than that penguin to mix oxygen into the water.
Did you notice any heavy breathing and or fish laying on thier sides on the bottom of the tnak before they died?

Yeah, I agree with meowzer. I have my heater thermostat set at 78 and my tank stays a consistent 81 during the winter months and gets up to 85 or 86 in July and August. So if you have similar temperature flucations you are easily hitting 90 if your lights heat up your water and your place ever gets above a comfortable indoor air temperature. I'd recomend setting your thermostat on your heater to a lower 75-78 and getting a glass thermo to see where that puts it. It'll help decrease stress on the fish alot....
on another related incident to impress upon you the importance of temperature. I went on vacation last august for a week; and my fish sitter closed my feeder lid (which I always keep open for evaportive cooling). ALL my fish died in a 24 hour period. It was terrible and was soley based on temperature spike over a 12 hour period.
