Please Help...is My Fish Gonna Die??

today at feeding time, my stars & stripes puffer and my black dogface decided to go for the same piece of silverside....with the DF coming out on the bad end of that deal.
during the fight for food the bottom of the DF mouth was bitten pretty badly, and is kinda hanging & ripped apart.
my question is, is there anything that can be done about the wound? or will it heal on it's own?

You probably need to watch for infection...do you have vitamin suppliments like Selcon, Vita-chem, or Zoe? If you do, it would be a good idea to start soaking it's food in some of that....A healthier fish will be able to heal quicker and fight off infection
ALSO make sure your water is good

no, i don't have any of that; but i will get over to the LFS b4 the next feeding. so you think he'll be fine? (baring any infection)

you are welcome...
I don't have a puffer, but most fish if healthy will usually heal okay.
I had 2 clowns tear each others mouths apart...Healthy food, good water parameters, and they both healed just fine

well, i have hand fed them b4, so i guess i'll go back to that for awhile (at least until he heals.

actually not this guy, they just went for the same piece of silverside and the S&S puffer took a bigger bite than the DF. he has never shown any aggression toward any other fish in my tank. as a matter of fact, he was getting bullied by my Niger Trigger, b4 i took it back (My S&S puffer is my fav
)

my purple lobster (at least i think thats who's been doing it) tore up my anthias and my damsel but they healed fine
+1 on water conditions
and try to make sure they arent stressed
